Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards, masters of magic and story. Usually they are the ones telling the story, but what happens when a bard realizes they are within the story of someone else's making.

College of The Plot Bards are aware they are but a character within a story being told. But that does not mean they cannot influence it. For the first step to making things happen is knowing you have more control over your fate, isntead of merely being a pawn in the story someone else is telling.

Bonus Cantrips

When you choose this college at 3rd level, you become more adept at manipulating and sensing the flow of the Plot. You may learn three cantrips of your choice from any class spell list. These cantrips must be from the Transmutation or Divination school of magic. The chosen cantrips count as bard cantrips for you but don't count against the number of bard cantrips you know.

So the Plot goes...

You are fully aware of the lore and overarching narrative of the world you inhabit. When you choose this college at 3rd level, you gain profficiency in Arcana, History, Insight and Religion. If you are already proficient in any of these skills, you gain Expertise in it instead. Additionally, when rolling a check using any of these four skills, you may expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration, rolling a Bardic Inspiration die and adding the number rolled to your result.

So the Plot requires...

At 6th level, your power extends from knowing to manipulating the narrative. When you find yourself in a situation that requires a specific tool, you may expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration to produce the required tool from a conveniently out of sight place, such as from the inside of your coat, from behind your back, from a nearby chest, or even from the bones of the skeleton the party had just defeated and looted, finding nothing.

For 1 minute after producing the tool, you may make one roll with it. For the purposes of this roll, you are considered as having Expertise with the used tool, and have Advantage on the roll.

Plot Armor

At 14th level, you gain the ability to see how important someone is to the Plot, ensuring they can stay alive because they are Plot relevant. As a bonus action, you may expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to roll a Bardic Inspiration die and bestow the following effects on an ally you can see within 60 feet of you:

  • The ally gains temporary hit points equal to your Bardic Inspiration die roll + your Bard level + your charisma modifier
  • The ally gains a bonus to their AC equal to your Charisma modifier
  • The ally is immune to being Frightened, Charmed, Stunned, Paralyzed or Petrified; and has Advantage on Saving Throws against being Blinded, Deafened, Grappled, Restrained or Poisoned
  • The ally may take the Disengage action as a Bonus Action
  • The ally ignores difficult terrain

These effects last for 1 minute. Plot Armor can only be active on one ally at a time.
