Base Class: Fighter
The Bastion is a master of defense for both himself and his allies.
Goading Strikes
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, your presence on the battlefield commands attention. When you successfully hit a creature with an attack, that target has disadvantage on any attack roll that isn't against you, and you have advantage on opportunity attacks against it, until the start of your next turn.
Peerless Defender
Beginning at 7th level, your shield’s protection extends to those you defend. You gain the benefits of the Defender fighting style, or pick another fighting style if you already have it. All creatures you choose within 5 feet of you gain the AC bonus of your shield, and may add the AC bonus of your shield to their Dexterity saving throws against spells or other harmful effects.
Archery
You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.
Defense
While you are wearing armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.
Dueling
When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Great Weapon Fighting
When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.
Protection
When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a shield.
Two-Weapon Fighting
When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
You Shall Not Pass
At 10th level, your successful opportunity attacks leave the target just outside of your reach and ends their movement this turn.
Vengeful Strike
At 14th level, your mastery of defense allows you to retaliate. Whenever an attack misses a target who has the benefit of your shield’s AC, you may make an attack against the attacker if they are within 10 feet (even if your weapon has 5 feet range).
Beacon of Hope
At 18th level, you attain the pinnacle of protection in battle. Shields have +1 AC when you hold them. The range of your protection increases to 10 feet. You and all allies affected by your protection may add your shield's AC bonus to all saving throws and checks made to resist any harmful effect.
