Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Path of the Necrorager is a combination of the Barbarian’s rage and necromancy.  Barbarians who follow this path cannot cast spells innately, but can use spell scrolls with their constitution ability for spellcasting.

Necrotic Fury

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you get the following attributes to your rage:

  • When you or an ally within 30 feet of you drops a beast, giant, humanoid, or monstrosity to 0 hit points, you can raise it as an undead ally with the statblock of a zombie or skeleton for the duration of your rage. This does not require an action and is limited to one creature per Barbarian level.
  • You are resistant to necrotic damage while raging.

Necrotic Wrath

Starting at 6th level, your rage gains the following features:

  • Your necrotic fury’s range increases to 60ft and you can now turn aberrations, dragons, fey, plants, and undead into your thralls.
  • As a bonus action, you can enrage one of your thralls to give it the reckless attack feature for the duration of your rage. You can do this to a number of thralls equal to your proficiency bonus.
  • In addition to skeletons and zombies, you can now summon your thralls as a Death’s Head, with the Death’s Head statblock.

Necrotic Fortitude

At 10th level, you learn to channel necrotic power to give undead attributes to others. As an action, you can unleash a battle cry infused with necrotic energy. Up to ten other creatures of your choice within 60 feet of you that can hear you, including yourself, gain one use of the following feature:

  • When damage reduces you to 0 hit points, you can make a Constitution saving throw (DC 5 + the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 hit point. You can’t use this feature if you are reduced to 0 hit points by radiant damage or by a critical hit.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Rage Through Death

Beginning at 14th level, the necrotic power that fuels your rage allows you to shrug off fatal blows.

While you’re raging, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points. However, if you would die due to failing death saving throws, you don’t die until your rage ends, and you die then only if you still have 0 hit points.
