Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

You cut out your own heart, but it still beats. For as long as it still beats your body can’t truly be destroyed. But you are bound to the ferry you serve and must do your duty to serve the dead to where they belong

...or be punished.

Lords of the underworld are commonly dealing with many duties in their domain and require assistance from a deliverer. These are commonly known as psychopomps, given the duty of delivering the dead to their final resting place. Some examples of psychopomps are: Charon, Hermes, Valkyries, Anubis, Xolotl, Davy Jones and the Grim Reaper. Taking the Pact of the Ferryman, binds you to: a god of the underworld; the duty of a psychopomp and to a ferry of the dead, you must protect the souls of the dead from those who would take them whilst they are being ferried.

Ferry of the dead

Choose a creature or vehicle, this is your ferry of the dead. This is your charge and your companion. If it is a vehicle it is permanently under your care and you must not abandon it, and it can traverse any landscape as required. If it is a creature, it must be size large or smaller and be able to carry you and at least one other. If your ferry is reduced to 0 hit points, you must perform a ten minute ritual to return it to its duty. All of this is subject to your DM’s discretion.

Tongue of the psychopomp

Starting at level 6. You gain the ability to make conversation with those dead you ferry to the underworlds. You gain the ability to speak all language and cast speak with dead at will.

Eye for the Dead

The path to the underworld is laden with many obstacles, among them being fiends, fey, or aberrations who hunger for souls. As it is your charge to protect those souls as you ferry them across the veil, you must be on the lookout for those who would hunt for them. Starting at 1st level you can cast Detect Evil and Good at will, without using a spell slot. The spell still requires concentration.

Rebuke of the Ferry

When you, your ferry of the dead, or someone on ferry of the dead take damage, you can cast the spell hellish rebuke, targeting the creature causing the damage, at 1st level. Casting it this way does not cost a spell slot, you can cast it this way a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, you regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Captain of the Ferry

As a person responsible for bringing the souls of the dead to the underworld, you are technically not able to die yourself. If your body is destroyed but your heart still beats, you can gain a new body in 2d10 days, effectively taking a long rest and becoming active again. The new body appears on the deck of the ferry. you may use this ability an amount of times at the DM's discretion.
