Base Class: Ranger
You have dedicated yourself to hunting down creatures of the night and wielders of grim magic. A Eldritch Hunter seeks out vampires, dragons, evil fey, fiends, and other magical threats. Trained in supernatural techniques to overcome such monsters, Eldritch Hunters are experts at unearthing and defeating mighty, mystical foes.
Eldritch Hunter Magic
Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Eldritch Hunter Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for these spells.
Eldritch Hunter Spells
| Ranger Level | Spell |
|---|---|
| 3rd | shield |
| 5th | mirror image |
| 9th | haste |
| 13th | banishment |
| 17th | cone of cold |
Martial Magic
Starting at 3rd level, you master a technique for combining spellcasting and classic martial attacks that takes both skill and study.
You learn a few cantrips unique to Rangers of the Eldritch Hunter Conclave: Gust, Sacred Flame, and Vicious Mockery. These cantrips count as ranger spells for you, and they don't count against the number of ranger spells you know. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for these cantrips. When cast as a ranger spell, Sacred Flame deals fire damage instead of radiant.
Additionally, whenever you take the attack action, you can cast one of your ranger cantrips in place of one of those attacks.
Hunter's Insight
At 3rd level, your education on and study of the anatomy of monsters helps grant you insight into their attributes. Choose a type of creature upon which to focus your studies: aberrations, beasts, celestials, constructs, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, giants, monstrosities, oozes, plants, or undead. Alternatively, you can select two races of humanoid (such as gnolls and orcs). You may begin filling your bestiary with information on that creature type, learning one damage immunity, resistance, or vulnerability of the DM's choosing.
Once a day, you may take 10 minutes to inspect a creature, attempting to glean information about them and record it in your Bestiary. Make a Monster Knowledge check, with a DC equal to 12 + the monster's CR - the number of times you've gleaned information about them in your Bestiary. On a success, you learn one damage immunity, resistance, or vulnerability of the DM's choosing that the creature possesses.
Additionally, you gain proficiency with the Herbalism Kit and Alchemists Supplies.
Focused Technique
At 7th level, you learn a few techniques for more effectively dealing damage or avoiding danger.
- Defensive Stance - As a bonus action, you can take a defensive stance; readying yourself for any incoming attacks. Until the start of your next turn, you gain a +2 bonus to your armor class and Dexterity saving throws.
- Brazen Strike - Whenever you take the attack action on your turn, you can make one additional weapon attack against the same target as a bonus action, or two off-hand attacks as part of the two-weapon fighting bonus action. This additional weapon attack gains a -3 penalty to hit, and until the start of your next turn, you gain disadvantage on your next Dexterity saving throw.
Eldritch Strike
At 11th level, you learn how to make your weapon strikes undercut a creature’s resistance to your spells. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, that creature has disadvantage on the next saving throw it makes against a spell you cast before the end of your next turn.
Improved Martial Magic
At 15th level, whenever you take the attack action, you can cast one of your ranger spells in place of one of those attacks.
