Arcane Weapon
3rd-level Spellblade feature
Your efforts have led to you making a weapon to serve as a conduit for your magic and future designs. As part of a short or long rest, you can turn any weapon in your possession into your signature Arcane Weapon, provided you have smith’s tools with you.
Your signature Arcane Weapon gains the following benefits:
- The weapon is magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances, but may still benefit from your Artificer Infusions.
- When you attack with the weapon you you can use your Intelligence modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity modifier, for the attack and damage rolls.
- You can use the weapon as a spellcasting focus for your artificer spells.
The weapon continues to be your signature weapon until you use this feature again, or you die.
Extra Attack
5th-level Spellblade feature
You can attack twice, rather than once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Versatile Design
9th-level Spellblade feature:
Your Arcane Weapon can channel magic for powerful attack or defense.
Arcane Smite. Once per turn when you hit a creature with your Arcane Weapon, you can expend an Artificer spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot. The damage can be fire, cold, acid, lightning, or thunder. You choose the damage type when you use this ability.
Arcane Shield. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to expend an Artificer spell slot to reduce the damage by 1d6, plus another 1d6 per level of the spell slot.
Legendary Weapon
15th-level Spellblade feature
Who Your Arcane Weapon has become a pinnacle of magical weaponry, akin to the legendary weapons of old. It gains the following benefits.
- Your Arcane Weapon gains a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls, and may have two of your Artificer Infusions active on it at once.
- In addition, the maximum number of items you can infuse at once increases by 1, but that extra infusion must be used on your Arcane Weapon.
- If your Arcane Weapon is a ranged weapon, its short and maximum ranges are doubled.
- If your Arcane Weapon is a melee weapon, it gains an additional damage die.
Additionally, if you die, your Arcane Weapon endures as a monument to your achievement, becoming a sentient magical weapon with Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores equal to yours. All infusions currently in place on it become permanent, and it retains the benefits of this feature.
A creature who attunes to the Arcane Weapon can telepathically communicate with it, and use its charges. The weapon has 5 charges, which can be used to cast any of the spells in the Spellblade's Expanded Spell List, or to replicate the effects of your Versatile Design subclass feature. Each charge is equivalent to one spell slot level, and the weapon regains all charges when its attuned user finishes a long rest.
