Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Rage Chanters are barbarians whose ferocious rage bends reality in arcane and destructive ways. To hone this energy to ensure it does not bring about their own death, they channel it into words of powers and string them together to keep the effects (usually) beneficial.

Chant of Rage

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, instead of entering a normal rage you may choose to instead begin a Rage Chant. While you continue the Rage Chant, you lose your Rage Damage bonus and advantage on Strength ability checks and saving throws and instead grant them to a number of creatures within 20ft of you up to your Charisma modifier (min 1) as long as they can hear you. Creatures under the effects of your Rage Chant must pass a DC 10 Constitution saving throw to cast a spell or to maintain concentration on a spell for each round they are affected.

You can use a bonus action on your turn while raging or using a Rage Chant to swap between the two or to select new creatures for your Chant of Rage, but the duration still counts down as normal.

Painful Renewal

At 6th level and onwards, if you take more than 5 damage from a single source (after accounting for resistances/immunities) you can extend your current rage or Rage Chant by one round (6 seconds). You can use this feature only once per round, refreshing at the beginning of your turn. If you are not raging or Rage Chanting when you take this damage, you can use your reaction to enter a rage or a Rage Chant (your next turn counts as the first turn of the rage). Additionally, you can use a bonus action on your turn to deal damage to yourself equal to your Rage Damage bonus to extend your rage by one round (6 seconds).

Invigorating Chanting

Starting at 10th level, your Rage Chant can keep your allies fighting despite grievous wounds. If a creature under the effects of your Rage Chant drop to 0 hit points and doesn’t die outright, it can make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. If it succeeds, it drops to 1 hit point instead. Additionally, you can use a bonus action on your turn while Rage Chanting to grant the creatures under its effects a number of temporary hitpoints equal to your Charisma modifier.

Each time a creature uses this feature after the first, the DC increases by 5. When they finish a short or long rest, the DC resets to 10. A creature that has the Relentless Rage barbarian feature counts this as the same saving throw, increasing the DC for both your Rage Chant and their own Relentless Rage until a short or long rest.

Haunting Verse

At 14th level, enemies with 20ft of you while Rage Chanting gain a penalty to their melee damage rolls equal to your Rage Damage bonus until they get more than 20ft away from you or you end your Rage Chant. Creatures immune to the Frightened do not receive this penalty.

As a bonus action on your turn while using a Rage Chant you can choose one creature within 20ft of your to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier + your Strength modifier) or become Frightened of you and any creatures under the beneficial effects of your Rage Chant for 1 minute. A creature can attempt a new saving throw at the start of any turn where they cannot hear you using a Rage Chant and cannot see any creatures under the beneficial effects of your Rage Chant.
