Base Class: Ranger
Arc Riders are strange warriors who have been infused with elemental powers. Their abilities allow them to zip around a battlefield with the speed and destructive power of a lightning bolt, slinging bolts of crackling electricity at their enemies.
It is said that a brewing storm is a clear sign of an Arc Riders approach, and that a lingering scent of ozone and a plethora of charred corpses are the only signs left behind after one’s withdrawal.
Surging Sprint
Beginning at 3rd level when you choose this archetype, you can channel the power and speed of lightning. Whenever you use your action to take the Dash action, you can choose to become a living bolt of crackling lightning until the end of your current turn. When you move while in this form, you ignore all forms of difficult terrain and do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
If you move through a hostile creature’s space while in this form, the creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes lightning damage equal to 1d8 + your proficiency bonus, taking half damage on a successful save. A single creature cannot take this damage more than once per turn.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Bolt Strike
At 3rd level, you can conjure bolts of lightning to smite your foes. As an action, you can summon a bolt of lightning to your hand and make a special ranged spell attack with it. The attack has a range of 60 feet and deals 1d6 lightning damage on a successful hit. It uses your Wisdom modifier for its attack and damage rolls.
Tempestuous Heart
At 7th level, you can weather even the wildest of storms. You have resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, your movement speed increases by 10 feet.
Ascending Arc
At 11th level, you can use your lightning powers to ascend into the sky. When you use your Surging Sprint feature, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. However, you cannot stay aloft and must end your turn on solid ground or plummet to the ground.
Storm's Fury
At 15th level, you bring the fury of a storm into battle. After you use your action to take the Dash action and use your Surging Sprint feature, you can make a single Bolt Strike attack as a bonus action. You have advantage on the attack roll if the target failed its save against your Surging Sprint feature.

Posted Oct 12, 2022I would give the Bolt Strike a slight power up to at least 1d8, but other that I really like this subclass. Its theme is great and the features really augment the base class well!
