Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

The Order of the Demon is one of the lesser known orders, as there are very few members. They have used the secrets of fiendish blood magic and refined them for combat against celestials and fiends alike. Most members of this order work with devils, obsessing over the destruction of celestial beings- while others do the opposite and use demonic blood against the fiends. Those that are apart of this order haven't joined willingly, and are usually first brought into it by a fiend, or given the powers of fiendish blood at birth.

Rite of the Demon

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Demon esoteric rite (detailed below).

Rite of the Demon. Your rite damage is fire damage. While the rite is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your weapon sheds bright light out to a radius of 10 feet.
  • You have resistance to fire damage.
  • Your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage when you hit a celestial or fiend.

Demonic Transformation

Upon choosing this archetype at 3rd level, you begin to learn to control the Demonic blood within you. As a bonus action, you can transform into your demonic form for up to 1 minute. You can speak, use equipment, and wear armor in this form. You can revert to your normal form earlier as a bonus action. You automatically revert to your normal form if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die. While in your demonic form, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a flying speed of 30 feet.
  • You gain darkvision to a range of 60 feet and magical darkness doesn't impede it.
  • You gain a +2 bonus to your AC.
  • As a Bonus Action on your turn, you can teleport up to 20 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.

You can transform a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, with uses resetting after a long rest.

Blood Sense

Upon reaching 7th level, you can sense the presence of fiends or celestials, and the holy or unholy presence they bring with them. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect their presence. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial or fiend within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not their identity. If you sense a creature this way, you gain advantage on the next two attack rolls you make against it. You can also sense if an area is affected by a Paladin's auras or if a creature is a fiendish shapechanger.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to proficiency bonus. When you finish a long rest, you regain all expended uses. Additionally, you can speak, read, and write Infernal and Celestial.

Demonic Superiority

Beginning at 11th level, you become accustomed to fighting within your demonic form. While your Demonic Transformation is active, you gain additional benefits:

  • You gain resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage- and you ignore if a celestial or fiend's attacks are magical for the sake of overcoming resistance.
  • You cannot be charmed or frightened by fiends or celestials while in your demonic form.
  • When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can take one additional attack.

Blood Curse of the Archangel

At 15th level,  you've honed your hemocraft to be exceptionally potent. Your blood curses no longer require the target to have blood if they are a celestial or fiend. Additionally, you gain the Blood Curse of the Archangel for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn’t count against your number of blood curses known.

For Everyone Else

Upon reaching 18th level, your blood magic is much more versatile as a whole. Any feature from this order that only effected Fiends and Celestials now effect Aberrations, Celestials, Dragons, Elementals, Fey, Fiends, and Undead.
