Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The blood that flows through your veins is tainted with undeath and yet blessed with life. Are you a descendant of Dark Gods, Liches, Vampires, Shadowfell creatures, or Orcus himself? Were you born with this power or were you cursed by contact with a place of unimaginable necrotic energy? Do you embrace or reject it? Do you view it as evil power or can any power be used for good? No matter how you came to your power or how you feel about this gift or curse it flows within you. The power of death and life contained in one vessel. You are a True Necromancer.

True Necromancy

1st-level True Necromancer feature

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the True Necromancy Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be a divination or a necromancy spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.

True Necromancy Spells

Sorcerer Level Spells
1st cure wounds, inflict wounds, spare the dying
3rd augury, ray of enfeeblement
5th animate dead, revivify
7th arcane eye, blight
9th contagion, raise dead

Life and Undeath

As an action you may change your creature type to undead. This last until you are incapacitated, unconscious, or end it as an action. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Exchange Life

When you deal damage or heal another creature with a 1st level or higher sorcerer spell you may expend a hit dice and add double the roll of the die as necrotic damage or healing to one target of the spell.

Necrotic Power

You gain resistance to necrotic damage, and sorcerer spells you cast and abilities ignore resistance to necrotic damage.
Additionally as a bonus action you can touch an undead creature and expend up to your proficiency bonus sorcery points to restore 1d6hp per sorcery point expended.

Army of Undead

You learn Create Undead if you don’t already know it. This spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know and can not be replaced. If you already know Create Undead you may choose to learn another spell of the same level or lower from the the sorcerer spell list. When you cast Create Undead you create or reassert control over one more undead creature than normal at the spell’s level. Additionally any undead creature you create using a sorcerer spell is under your control for at minimum 48 hours.

Undeath Mastery

You gain immunity to necrotic damage.
Once per long rest as an action may turn the rotting corpse of a creature that was not a celestial, construct, fiend, ooze, or undead into your undead puppet. The creatures challenge rating or level can be no more than half your level in this class. The corpse must have been dead for at least 7 days. The creature rises as an undead version of its former self. It’s type becomes undead. Its hit point max is halved and it has half its hit dice. It keeps it’s its STR, DEX and Con, but it’s INT, WIS, and CHA all become 1. It loses any legendary actions and legendary resistances. It loses any spells that aren’t innate. In combat, the undead puppet shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action except cast a spell. It may only take the Cast a spell action if you use your action to command it. It uses your spellcasting attack and save DC. Any spells and abilities that deal damage other than bludgeoning, slashing or piercing instead deal necrotic damage. If you are incapacitated, the Undead Puppet can’t take any action except to attack anything hostile to it. When the Undead Puppet is reduced to 0hp by damage that isn’t radiant or a critical hit it makes a Constitution saving throw against a DC equal to the damage, on a success the Undead Puppet drops to 1hp instead. If the Undead Puppet has 0hp at the start of your turn its flesh and bones are rapidly devoured by the necrotic energy holding it together. The corpse is destroyed. You may only have one Undead Puppet at a time. If you use this feature to create a second Undead Puppet the first is immediately destroyed and the corpse rots away.
Also an action used to command other undead creatures you control can be used to command the Undead puppet as well.
