Theaters are a new and booming business, and companies are always looking for footage to show. One of the more popular types of film are "News Reels." These illustrious movies show their audience the recent events of current months. Adventuring parties tend to be the "movers and shakers" of the world, and are featured often.
Of course, not all news reels are equally watchable. Audiences want exciting news, they can read about an advancement in corn-based agriculture in the paper. The common people don't want to go out of their homes, to the theater, pay somebody money, and sit down and watch a tremendous screen and feel bored. They want drama! They want personality! They want to feel some form of emotional connection.
Enter the College of Commentary. The bards of this very new college specialize in following adventurers around, narrating what they do to a camera, using their illusion magic to sensationalize the more interesting bits, and help their group some in the process. After all, people like when the protagonists of the story they're watching win.
On-The-Scene reporting!
When you join the College of Commentary at 3rd level, you may add your charisma bonus to your initiative.
In addition, you've covered wars, (you know?) and your experience in dangerous situations has given you incentive to learn to wear heavier armor. You gain Medium Armor Proficiency.
Finally, you may cast the find familiar spell as a ritual, with only one creature as an option: The Camera. This creature has the same stats as the owl, but
"We go now, live, to our correspondent!"
At 6th level, you may cast any spell as if your familiar is the origin point instead of yourself a number of times equal to your charisma or proficiency bonus, whichever is lower, in addition to the touch spell rules. You replenish your uses of this ability when you take a short rest.
"An exclusive interview!"
At 6th level, you gain the ability to conduct an Exclusive Interview.
Once per long rest, you can choose a target within 10 feet and lock both you and your target into being the only beings who can affect each other, as well as be unable to affect people other than each other. This lasts for 2 rounds, and costs a bonus action.
The target may choose to make a charisma save to avoid this happening to them.
This ability requires the camera to be active so it can record your conversation. You can use the camera as the origin of this spell-like ability, meaning the target can be within 10 feet of the camera.
"Lets see that again, in slow motion!"
Starting at 14th level, once a long rest, you can spend a full round action to use the "Instant Replay" spell like ability.
Anything within 30 feet of yourself or your camera can be targeted. Choose giving the target the option to do an action they did last turn, twice, as a standard action, or place them where they were at the end of their last turn and have any actions of casters choice that affected them occur again this round.
This ability requires the camera to be active so that it can record it at different angles.
