Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Eradication is one taken by a paladin that seeks to rid the world of a certain entity, ideal, or power. Often seen as ruthless and brutish, these paladins are almost always vilified by other paladins and by clerical orders alike, as they often embody the opposite of the vision of a divine saviour. Those that are sworn to the Oath of Eradication believe that the ends justify the means, and are willing to do whatever it takes to rid the world of that they have been sworn to eradicate, no matter who else gets hurt in the process. Many who swear this oath are devoted to gods of neutrality and chaos, while others are simply empowered by the ferocity of their oath.

TENETS OF ERADICATION

Though there are no exact words of the Oath of Eradication, as it is a personal oath usually taken in response to a terrible loss, paladins of this oath share these tenets.

Destroy. Nothing is more important than the destruction of all that your enemies hold dear.

Hate. Never let go of the hatred that drives and empowers you.

Show No Mercy. Your enemies and their allies do not deserve your mercy, only eradication.

Break Your Foes. Killing your enemies is too kind a fate. Be sure to break their minds and hearts before breaking their bones.

Channel Divinity

3rd-level Oath of Eradication feature

You gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Intimidation Expert. As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to augment yourself. For the next 10 minutes, you have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks; you gain proficiency in that skill if you don't already have it; and your proficiency bonus is doubled to checks made with that skill.

Pulse of Pain. Immediately after you deal damage to a creature with your Divine Smite feature, you can use your Channel Divinity as a bonus action and release a pulse of radiant energy around you. Every creature within 15 feet of you of your choice that you can see must make a Wisdom saving throw, suffering 2d8 + your level in this class radiant damage on a failure, and half damage on a successful save. The DC for this save is your paladin spell save DC.

Aura of Continued Suffering

7th- and 18th-level Oath of Eradication feature

You emanate an aura that helps to ensure the continued suffering of your enemies. Any creature within 5 feet of you that you designate has disadvantage on saving throws against effects they have already been afflicted by. For example, an enemy would not be at disadvantage on their initial saving throw against a spell, but they would be at disadvantage on subsequent saves to end the effects of that spell.

When you reach 18th level in this class, the range of the aura increases to 10 feet.

Life From Death

15th-level Oath of Eradication feature

You can regain your own vitality when depleting another creature of their own. When you drop an opponent to 0 hit points or kill them outright, so long as they are not a construct or undead, you can use your reaction to regain a number of hit points equal to your paladin level.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Envoy of Eradication

20th-level Oath of Eradication feature

You are the envoy of eradication, the true champion of destruction, the one who smites their foes to annihilation. As a bonus action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • When you take the attack action on your turn, you can make another attack with your bonus action as well.
  • Once on each of your turns as a free action you can negate an opponent's resistance to radiant damage, or turn their immunity to radiant damage into resistance. This change lasts until the end of your current turn.
  • If you land a critical hit on an opponent, you can roll an additional two dice of your attacks damage die.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
