Spellcasting
You follow a monastic tradition that teaches you to harness the very air around you. When you focus your ki, you can align yourself with the forces of creation and bend the wind to your will, using it as an extension of your body.
Many monks of this tradition tattoo their bodies with representations of their ki powers, commonly imagined as coiling dragons, but also as phoenixes, fish, plants, mountains, and cresting waves.
Spellcasting
When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting.
Cantrips
You learn three cantrips: gust and two other cantrips of your choice from the Air Nomad spell list. You learn another Air Nomad cantrip of your choice at 10th level.
Spell Slots
The Air Nomad Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your Air Nomad spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
For example, if you know the 1st-level spell expeditious retreat and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast expeditious retreat using either slot.
Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher
You know three 1st-level Air Nomad spells of your choice. The Spells Known column of the Air Nomad Spellcasting table shows when you learn more Air Nomad spells of 1st level or higher. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the Air Nomad spells you know with another spell of your choice from the Air Nomad spell lists.
Spellcasting Ability
Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Air Nomad spells. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for an Air Nomad spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Advanced Gust
Starting at 6th level, when you cast gust, it gains the following properties:
- You create a narrow blast of compressed air which targets one creature in range. One Large or smaller creature that you choose must succeed on a Strength saving throw or take damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.
- You create a small blast of air capable of moving one object that is neither held nor carried and that weighs no more than 10 pounds. The object is pushed up to 15 feet in a direction of your choice, or up to 20 feet if the object weighs no more than 5 pounds. It isn’t pushed with enough force to cause damage.
- You create a harmless sensory effect using air, such as causing leaves to rustle, wind to slam shutters shut, or your clothing to ripple in a breeze.
The spell creates more than one blast when you reach higher levels: two blasts at 5th level, three blasts at 11th level, and four blasts at 17th level. You can direct the blasts at the same target or at different ones.
Additionally, gust can now be cast as a bonus action.
Billow Affinity
When you use the Attack action on your turn, compressed air extends from your fists and feet. Your reach with your unarmed strikes and monk weapons increases by 10 feet.
Additionally, you gain expertise in the Acrobatics skill if you don't already have it.
One with the Wind
Starting at 11th level, you gain the ability to cast the investiture of wind spell. After you've used this feature you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
Magic Within
You have learned to regain some of your magical energy from your relentless medition. You can spend one ki + the spell slot's level to recover a spell slot.
For example, if you have four remaining Ki Points, you can recover either a 3rd-level spell slot (4 ki), a 2nd-level spell slot (3 ki), or two 1st-level spell slots (4 ki).
