Base Class: Bard
Fate Twisters never studied in a college, but instead learned all the tricks up their sleeves while drifting from place to place, usually living on the edge between a miserable death and a luck-kissed life. This experience of dealing with fate and chance on a daily basis, made them able tug at destiny's pattern, gambling on a beneficial outcome.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Deception skill and in the playing cards gaming set.
In addition, you can use your fate deck as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.
The Fate Deck
Starting at 3rd level, you gain your fate deck. You are proficient in using it as a ranged weapon and it can be used as a playing cards gaming set. When you make an attack with it by throwing a card, the card reappears in the deck immediately after.
The deck contains a variable number of cards, based on your Inspiration die, divided in two colors, red and black, and four suits plus a joker of each color. As an action, you can make all cards reappear in your hand even if they were destroyed, reforming a shuffled deck
Pick a Card
At 3rd level, when you take the Attack action and attack with your fate deck, you can choose to expend one use of your bardic inspiration to weave a thread of destiny to your card. You must choose to do so before making the attack roll, and you can use this feature only once per turn.
Roll your Inspiration die and add its result, representing the card value, to the attack's damage. Then roll a d10 to determine the card's effect, as shown in the Outcome column of the Pick a Card table.
This feature's save DC is equal to your spell save DC. If the attack misses and your Inspiration die rolls a 4 or more, you regain that Inspiration die.
Outcomes
- Hearts. You regain a number of hit points equal to your Inspiration die result.
- Spades. The next attack that hits that target before the end of your next turn deals additional damage equal to the Inspiration die result.
- Clubs. The target substracts your Inpiration die result from the next saving throw it makes before the start of your next turn.
- Diamonds. The next time the target hits with an attack before the start of your next turn, it subtracts your Inspiration die result from its damage roll.
- King of Hearts. You regain a number of hit points equal to twice your Inspiration die result.
- King of Spades. The next attack that hits that target before the end of your next turn deals additional damage equal to twice your Inspiration die result.
- King of Clubs. The target subtracts twice your Inspiration die result from the next saving throw it makes before the start of your next turn.
- King of Diamonds. The next time the target hits with an attack before the start of your next turn, it subtracts twice your Inspiration die result from its damage roll.
- Red Joker. You regain a number of hit points equal to your Inspiration die result and the next time the target hits with an attack before the start of your next turn, it subtracts your Inspiration die result from its damage roll.
- Black Joker. The next attack that hits that target before the end of your next turn deals additional damage equal to the Inspiration die result and the target substracts your Inpiration die result from the next saving throw it makes before the start of your next turn.
Spellcard
At 6th level, you are able to deliver your spells through the cards of your fate deck. When you take the Attack action and attack with your fate deck, you can use your bonus action to cast a spell with a casting time of 1 action on the card you are throwing. The attack's target becomes the spell's target or the center of the spell's area of effect.
You can use this feature again after you complete a short or long rest.
Arcane Dealer
Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice with thrown weapons when you take the Attack action on your turn.
In addition, your fate deck counts as a magical weapon for the purpose of damage resistances and immunities.
Retroactive Twist
At 14th level, you can choose to use the Pick a Card feature after an attack made with your fate deck hits, instead of choosing so before making the attack roll.
Empowered Deck
At 14th level, when you make an attack with your Fate Deck, you add your Charisma modifier to its damage roll.
