Base Class: Paladin
The Oath Of Sentiment swears Paladins to a life of emotions, vast and varied. From the heights of elation to the pits of despair, these deeply emotional Paladins safeguard the hearts of mankind and draw power from their feelings. Sentiment Paladins sacrifice their own hearts for the sake of uplifting others, and every emotion rages through them with a savage ferocity. Many take this path in the hopes of discovering the truth about their natures, with most not liking what they find.
Despite their sensitive nature, Sentiment Paladins are capable of the greatest rage and cruelest vendettas, as their feelings of hatred and obsession burn just as brightly as their kindness and joy.
TENETS OF SENTIMENT
The tenets of the Oath of Sentiment hold a paladin to a path of truth and self reflection.
Empathy. To truly understand emotion, one must be in tune with it. The emotions of others are as much your emotions as theirs.
Compassion. While darker feelings may tempt the weak, a master of their heart gives the world only kindness, no matter the cost.
Control. While feelings are a powerful weapon, they are also a temperamental one. Absolute control must be maintained, lest one's heart take reign over their mind.
Superior Calm Emotions
Your mastery of calm emotions allows you to use the spell to greater effect. The range of your Calm Emotions increases to 30 feet, and you can cast Calm Emotions without using a spell slot at the cost of 1d4 necrotic damage.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Redemption Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.
Oath of Redemption Spells
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | heroism, calm emotions |
| 5th | wrathful smite, beacon of hope |
| 9th | elemental weapon, geas |
| 13th | legend lore, stoneskin |
| 17th | divine word, plane shift |
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Natural Empath. You can use your Channel Divinity to mix your emotions with those around you. As a bonus action, you grant yourself a +5 bonus to Charisma (Persuasion) checks for the next 10 minutes.
Shared Pain. You can use your Channel Divinity to share your own pain with others. Immediately after an attacker within 30 feet of you deals damage to you, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the attacker takes necrotic damage equal to the damage it just dealt. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.
Share The Love
Starting at 7th level, you can heal multiple targets with one spell. When you cast a healing spell, all allies within 10 feet of the target receives half the amount healed.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Inner Peace
Starting at 15th level, absorbing others emotions mends your wounds in battle. You regain hit points equal to 1d6 + half your paladin level whenever you cast calm emotions, so long as you aren’t incapacitated.
Overwhelming Sorrow
At 20th level, you become a conduit for your foes sorrow and regret, which gives you two benefits:
- After casting calm emotions on an enemy, you have resistance to all damage dealt by other creatures (their attacks, spells, and other effects).
- Whenever a creature comes within striking distance of you, you can give them disadvantage on an attack once per enemy affected by calm emotions.
Neither effect activates until calm emotions is cast.
