Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks that walk through the Way of the Storm are almost druidic in their monastic practices, they embody the might and eerie allure of a storm’s natural wrath like no other. When they meditate, they usually do so in the middle of tempests, soaked in rain and with the rumbling sound of thunder in the back of their brain. Much like the weather, they are calm, kind and inscrutable until the time for battle arrives, when their raw and untamed power is unleashed.

Your monastery may have been in a coast or a mountain, experiencing first-hand the might of the seas and storms, or you may be self-taught, a sailor that once decided to connect with the environment around them.

Lightning Strikes

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can hurl devastating bolts of magical lightning.

You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 30 feet. Its damage is lightning, and its damage die is a d4. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.

It counts as an unarmed strike for the purpose of ki and other class features.

Storm Guide

Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to subtly control the weather around you.

If it is raining, you can use an action to cause the rain to stop falling in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on you. You can end this effect as a bonus action.

If it is windy, you can use a bonus action each round to choose the direction that the wind blows in a 100-foot-radius sphere centered on you. The wind blows in that direction until the end of your next turn. This feature doesn't alter the speed of the wind.

Resounding Blast

At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your Ki thunderous waves of energy. Immediatly after you take the Attack action on your turn, you may spend 2 Ki points to cast the Thunderwave spell as a bonus action without expending a spell slot.

You can spend additional Ki points to cast Thunderwave as a higher level spell. Each additional Ki point you spend increases the level of the spell by 1. The maximum number of Ki points you can spend on this feature on one bonus action is equal to half your monk level.

Perfected Storm

At 11th level, your mastery over your ki has allowed you to make your abilities and their potential destruction even deadlier. Your Lightning Strikes ignore resistance to lightning damage, and you gain resistance to lightning damage.

Additionally, your Lightning Strike’s range is doubled.

Gale Caller

At 17th level, you permanently become imbued with the might of the storms you channel in battle. You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed, and gain the ability to use your action and 4 ki points to give a number of creatures equal to your Wisdom modifier the same flying speed that you have for 1 hour.

Additionally, you gain immunity to lightning damage, and your Lightning Strikes range is doubled.
