Base Class: Fighter
As one who has studied the arts of the spear excessively, you're now on your way to become one of the best wielders of this simple, yet versatile weapon. It's weight now means little to you, and now acts as a true extension of yourself, so go, poke people to death with a stick and be proud of it.
Simple Spearwork
After some work, you've found yourself seeing that the simplicity of this particular weapon very appealing and inspires you to experiment with these deceptively versatile weapons. At Level 3, all Polearms and Trident weapons are treated as Light Weapons, and therefore can be used with two-weapon fighting. Additionally, your damage is treated as if the weapon was held with both hands.
Extended Reflexes
As your training improves, you begin to feel as if your senses have been sharpened, movements quickened, and your awareness peaking... Only within battle, of course. At Level 3, if an enemy moves 10ft away from you while you wield a Polearm or Trident, you can use your Reaction to move 5ft towards them, and can proceed to attack with opportunity. If you attack with a Polearm or Trident, you can treat your melee range as 10ft.
One With the Spear
The spear is now becoming a true part of you. You feel as if your control is sharpened to a degree you've never thought possible. At Level 7, if you use a Polearm or Trident in each hand, you can attack twice with your offhand weapon in your bonus action instead of once with two-weapon fighting. Your damage modifier, if it did not previously, now applies to your bonus action attack. Additionally, if you throw your weapon at an enemy and it hits, you can, as a bonus action, throw your offhand weapon. Your damage modifiers, if they did not previously, now applies to both of these attacks, and damage is treated as if they were used in both hands.
Master of Simplicity
Simple, but effective. It's a fitting description for you, and you revel in it. It is not a bad thing though, as you don't let much distract you from your target. At Level 10, if you use a Polearm or Trident, whenever you are affected by an ability that gives you disadvantage to Strength or Dexterity Checks/Saves, you can use your bonus action to focus yourself on your weapon to treat as if you no longer have disadvantage for 30 seconds. You can use this ability twice every short or long rest, and is treated as a Concentration ability.
To Stand on the Battlefield
Your training has reached it's peak. Battle now your constant companion, blood forever dripping from your trusted spear, and the warzone your home so long as your weapon is in your hands. At Level 13, if you use Medium or Heavy Armor while wielding a Polearm or Trident, you can add half of your Constitution modifier to your Armor Class (Rounded up). Additionally, your Extended Reflexes can now let you move your full movement and can gain an attack of opportunity from 10ft from the enemy, or you can use your attack of opportunity to throw your weapon.
The Pinnacle of the Spear
You now stand at the top, nigh unrivaled in your art. The spear now a true extension of yourself, as a steel pointed weapon of destruction, and your source of future peace. At Level 17, if you use a Polearm or Trident, you now use an additional damage dice when you hit an enemy and you also add +3 to hit/attack rolls. In addition, your throwing range is now 50ft/300ft.
