Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Haruspex harness a dark, otherworldly power that bewilders even the most observant eyes. Not quite magic in the traditional sense, the power over divination harnessed by Haruspices is widely considered to be no more than superstition. Those who follow the Way of the Haruspex are both flocked to by the superstitious and shunned by the rational as they perform miracles in a magical world.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the cleric spell list.

Blood Casting

To cast cleric spells prepared with this class, you can expend ki points equal to the spell's level rather than expending spell slots. For example, if you are a 3rd-level monk and cast sleep, you could expend 1 ki point instead of expending a spell slot.

Preparing and Casting Spells

To cast one of your spells you have prepared with this class, you must expend a number of ki points equal to the spell's level.

You prepare the list of haruspex spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the Way of the Haruspex spell list. When you do so, choose a number of haruspex spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your monk level (minimum of one spell).

Once you reach 5th level in this class, you can spend additional ki points to increase the level of a spell that you cast, provided that the spell has an enhanced effect at a higher level, as sleep does. The spell’s level increases by 1 for each additional ki point you spend. For example, if you are a 5th-level monk and cast sleep, you can spend 2 ki points to cast it as a 2nd-level spell.

The maximum number of ki points you can spend to cast a spell in this way (including its base ki point cost and any additional ki points you spend to increase its level) is determined by your monk level, as shown in the Haruspicy and Ki Points table.

You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of haruspex spells requires time spent in deep meditation: at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your haruspex spells, since you learn your spells through dedication to the traditional arts. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a haruspex spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Ritual Casting

You can cast a haruspex spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag, you have the spell prepared, and you would be able to spend the amount of ki points required to cast the spell according to the Haruspicy and Ki Points table.

Spellcasting Focus

You can use the blood of a creature other than yourself as a spellcasting focus for your Haruspicy spells.

Weird Divine

At 3rd level, your spells cast with Haruspicy are not actually magic, and are thus nigh-undetectable to divination or the rational eye. Spells you cast with ki points that are prepared with this class are invisible and cannot be dispelled or counterspelled. They also cannot be detected via divination such as identify or detect magic, nor are they affected by antimagic field.

Additionally, when you cast a spell using ki points as an action, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action.

Horrific Divine

Beginning at 6th level, you learn how to perform the darkest arts of Haruspicy. When you deal the killing blow on an incapacitated, but not unconscious, beast or humanoid you can cast any divination spell from the haruspex spell list with a level less than or equal to the Intelligence modifier of the target (minimum of 1) without expending any ki points.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Vampiric Divine

Starting at 11th level, you gain power through your work with death. When deal the killing blow on a creature, you gain ki points equal to the Intelligence modifier of the creature slain (minimum of 1).

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

Imminent Divine

At 17th level, you gain the ability to see glimpses into the future with relative ease. As a bonus action, you can expend 2 ki points and gain advantage on all attacks, ability checks, and saving throws until the beginning of your next turn.
