Not sure if I should mention this in its own thread, but, while most of the Magic Items from the DMG are there, the Staff of the Adder is not. I think this is an SRD thing, since it's also missing from the 5e SRD. However, this is confusing, since all the other items seem to be listed. What made them hold back on the Staff of the Adder?
Not all of the DMG items are there ;) But yes, this is an SRD limitation. You'll notice that Basic Rules and SRD actually include a lot more than you would realize.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. I'm wondering how Wizards of the Coast decided to omit some items (what made them choose some items instead of others), not why D&D Beyond did. It's clear to me that you're only putting out the information that's freely & legally accessible.
As you could've seen in the first link provided by subsistcyber:
Why is the SRD missing some spells, magic items, and monsters? In general, the criteria for what went into the SRD is if it (1) was in the 3E SRD, (2) has an equivalent in 5th edition D&D, and (3) is vital to how a class, magic item, or monster works. For example, the 3E SRD has the delay poison spell, but in 5th edition that's handled by the protection from poison spell, so protection from poison is in the SRD.

I honestly hadn't clicked through that, and thank you: that certainly addresses the bulk of the issue.
However, that doesn't fully address it. Is there something about the Staff of the Python that meets those three criteria that the Staff of the Adder does not?
And, again, these aren't questions for Beyond. It's for WotC. I'm very happy with Beyond, and impatiently waiting for phase 2 to be released this month.
The example you've provided is indeed an interesting one. There was Rod of the Python as well as Rod of the Viper in the 3e SRD, but only the Python one was released in 5e SRD. I think the intention there was that the Python-Rod in 3e behaved like a staff but Viper-Rod behaved like a heavy mace, which doesn't happen with the 5e version (it's a staff). It is possible that this little detail was what influenced the lack of Staff of the Adder in 5e SRD.
EDIT: But these are just my assumptions. I hope I'm not too much off the topic here. If so, I'm really sorry for the flood.
I can't seem to find the Vecna Artifacts in the magic items list. Even searching only artifacts doesn't bring anything up. The only artifact listed is the dragon orb.

The Hand and Eye of Vecna don't appear in either the SRD or Basic Rules, and thus are not in Beyond at this time.
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.
ok gotcha, I should have realized that it might not have everything since in beta still. After seeing the stream of annihilation and hearing that beyond was up and running i just got really pumped lol. Really liking what is set up so far and I look forward to phase 2 the character creator stuff. Thank you for the reply and best of luck to beyond development. I'm only missing a few campaign books in my collection, but i still heavily use online tools when i DM. Can't wait for the complete product.
I'm looking at the Elemental Gem magic item, and the item is consumed when used, but it doesn't have the "Consumable" tag. Is there a way we can suggest tags for individual items?
It would be nice to be able to shortlist a few items of diferent kinds for if i am runing a store
That's a good idea. I believe this has been discussed as being part of the campaign management section of DDB for DMs to be able to put together shops. I'm looking forward to this as well.
Suggestion: Add a graphic preset of filters to the equipment section, similar to the magic itens or spells sections.
Rationale: Its hard to know what to type in search box sometimes. This way a user could just click on weapons, armor, adventure equipment, etc...
I like this. I think it would make it easer to look for some of the more common items (e.g. armor, weapons, adventuring gear, etc.) My preference would be for the the filters be based on an item's general purpose and not it's classification as "wondrous".
Ah, thank you.
It would be nice if different accepted spellings of words were usable when searching for things like armor/armour.
Could you add how to obtain the items and pricing to the item description.

Does anyone know which other magic items were omitted? And if there was a criterion for deciding what made the cut and what did not?
I'm assuming that the goal in omitting some of the magic items is to keep some of the value of the DMG intact. It just seems random, though.

You can see all of the items included in the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion.
