-I still hate that sidebar with all of my being. I don't feel like enough thought was put into what information should be there, and what information needed to be on the main page. And I hate that it covers up the section I need most access to when it appears.
-For example, in the Features section, I'd like to see just headers and whatever use checkboxes are appropriate, rather than have to scroll forever to get past all the descriptions, which should either be collapsed/collapsible, or in the sidebar.
You can dock the sidebar to the left, which may help. As for features and actions, it would be great if they let you customize those descriptions in the main panel. That would help you eliminate them if you just want headers, and would also let us fix the ones that have been wrong or broken since the relaunch (like Wild Shape, Claws, Unarmed Strike)
under equipment, right next to weight carried there should be boxes for coins/money etc.
so this a bad mock up but I think the idea is clear.
I would actually down vote that one. It adds too much clutter to the screen for something not frequently used. I'd rather it just say what I have, then in those situations where I need to spend money bring up the slide in window.
Generally, during the game I would either have a notepad or a Google Doc open for writing down (among other things) money transactions and then at the end, away from the table, tally it all up and make changes in one or two transactions.
I would down vote yours in return. The whole point to me of having an online tool to me is not needing pen a paper. Your saying a usable function that evolves the character sheet closer too that should not be implemented because it crowds the space with important information only so you can go back to pen and paper!?!? Your also not considering that others might do things differently like me who would make changes as I spent gold.
An alternate suggestion. Do it the way BBogus73 suggested but to resolve your crowded space issue, lets remember this is a functional digital document not a static peace of paper. So why not address the "crowding issue" by adding "condense" button for people who don't need or want it? up all the time reducing it to total amount in gold an total weight? Also, its not space efficient because BBogus73 put the "quantity boxes" under the coins. Put the boxes to the right of the corresponding coins so that it fits on one row instead of 2, reduce the coin image size and maybe even put the coin type label over the coins to save more space and choice a type font that shows up when overlaid or fade the coins image a little and bold the labels. At that point you keep a feature improvement, half the space it takes, and if really bothers player like Cyberfunkr that they are always looking at a row of information they don't want then they can hit the condense button and make it significantly less intrusive.
That's my take on it anyway.

The lack of inflection in text means that a reader of any post adds their own inflection as they "verbalize" it in their head. I write long and repetitive in an effort to be clear and avoid my intent from being skewed or inverted. I am also bad at examples. It is common for people to skim my posts pull out the idea they think I mean or want to argue against or focus on my bad example instead of the point I am actually trying to make. I apologies for the confusion my failure to be clear and concise creates.
The one thing I'd really like to see is some structure to the equipment. Right now it's all in one bucket with no rhyme or reason beyond alphabetical order, and it's really annoying to find stuff.
This is what I'd love:
BODY (armor) (shield) (clothing) (magic items)
WEAPONS (melee weapon 1) <-- sort by damage from most to least (melee weapon 2) (missile weapon 1) <-- sort by damage from most to least (missile weapon 2)
BACKPACK <-- containers sort in order of capacity, largest first (non-consumable item 1) <-- these are in alpha order (non-consumable item 2) (consumable 1) <-- kept together so you manage them better (consumable 2)
QUIVER <-- specialty items at the bottom (missile weapon 1 ammo) <-- i.e. arrows)
BOLT CASE
ETC.
I'd be more than OK with some strong defaults to make your lives easier with some things - like, whenever equipment is purchased, things automatically sort to proper containers. Like:
- arrows get put into quivers - darts/bullets get put into pouches - crossbow bolts get put into cases - everything else just gets put into your backpack
A player can move stuff around into other storage items like pouches or sacks afterwards, assuming they buy them. But only the most control freak players will do that.
I mean I have been saying I want inventory management on posts since before the sheet was revised. I REALLY want containerized inventory that is sharable between characters in a campaign so we could have a shared mule or bag of holding and all access it also setting who if anyone bears the weight, so that contents of bags of holdings, items at our camp, on our mule, at our stronghold/hideout, personal locked chest, don't add to character encumbrance. This also opens up the GM to make a "character" that is actually a shop and share items why buy so they can be drug into player inventories.... Though I don't expect this is coming anytime soon. The developers in replied to my original post that this is something they intend to implement and is on the list.
As a more immediate temporary solution... while I read your post it occurs to me that If I could drag and sort inventory then mark if it counts to character weight that would do more than half of what you wanted above by using the containing items as dividers. You could also then create custom items with no weight to replace items in a bag of holding and you create items like "Worn on body" as a divider. I hate to call out another system, but Roll20s journal which has a special image to the left of each file and folder that lets you drag it under any folder. Making any container item a "folder" with a similar draggable structure will support a lot player controlled setup. Currently none of that is possible and I still have to use pen and paper for inventory management. In part because I carry personal gold in a pouch and party gold in a bag of holding as the party treasurer.

I mean you can dock it to the left hand side of the screen, so it won’t cover the Actions panel. Not lock it, as I assume you thought I meant. The best scenario is using the fixed layout so it is always up and doesn’t cover anything, but you need quite a high resolution for that.
One suggestion I would like to make. Is when going through spells, it only shows that level's spell's. I find it very cluttered and busy when it shows me my 1st level spells i can cast at second level. I would much rather see just second level spells.
I was wondering, underneath the speed section on the revamped character sheet, is there any plan to add Long Jump and High Jump distances as on this page of the PHB? I know it's not used a lot in games but it is a core mechanic and I find many situations where players want to know.

The number of times I have to look up the rules on Jumping is ridiculous. You'd think I'd remember by now, but nope... I'd love if this could be in Speed, even if only visible when clicking on it.
Wish that my lower level spells didn’t pop up in each higher level category, hiding my upper levels between them. Makes it harder to sort through when playing higher level characters!

You're correct, I misread and tried to lock the sidebar. But yeah, fixed layout is not an option that appears to be available for my computer-which is why I bring it up as an unresolved issue with the design of the character sheet. And I'm working on a Macbook Pro with a Retina display, so if I can't do it, there are a lot of people in the same boat. And even moving the sidebar to the left isn't really a solution-that would be another issue, as when I do want to be pulling up additional information, from a design perspective I want it to be visually close to where the eye already is, which 90% of the time is going to be on the right, unless they change the entire layout of the sheet.

I can set it to fixed on my 13" Macbook Pro, if I "unzoom" sufficiently. I cannot get to a sufficiently small enough "zoom" by pinching on the trackpad, I have to use Command - (as in the minus sign) to do it. This is in Chrome. I haven't tried it in any other browsers.

Fits perfectly on my 15" MacBook Pro in Fixed layout, without any zooming.
would be nice to have details of the initiative score shown by clicking on it just like it does for AC etc. had an issue last night where a characters initiative was +5 but Dex was only +3. we couldn't figure out where the extra +2 came from!

By any chance, was that character a bard? It automatically adds a bard's Jack of All Trades (half proficiency) to initiative. Though I agree I'd like to be able to see where it came from and if possible be able to customise it as my DM rules that Jack of All Trades doesn't apply to initiative.

I'd like the option to switch back and forth, personally. My Cleric has lots of options to up-cast and seeing what those are is good to have...sometimes. If we had something we could switch on and off that would be ideal.

nope. male dragonborn fighter (8) / sorcerer (1)
Many weapons are limited to only one - there isn't any 'Quantity'.
For example, right now, I wanted to equip two Scimitars, and I'm limited to one. Same thing with Boomerang, Longbow, Short Sword, etc.
Yeah, yeah, I know, 'edgelord Driz'zt Drow players are lame', yadda yadda. Is this temporary, or permanent?
Thanks!
Old school knowledge / without all the baggage
Not having this problem. I added 2 Scimitars to the inventory, and equipped both of them no problem:
Might be an issue on your end. I'd recommend posting up your link for the mods to take a look.
DId they take the champion subclass? That subclass also gets an improvement on any DEX skill checks the character is not proficient in.
