I just thought of another one: a group made up entirely of planetouched races, Aasimar, Tieflings, and Gensei. Could be good for a Planescape campaign.

That reminds of an idea I had years ago originally for some fan fiction but could be tweaked for playing. Didn’t get far into specifics but basically members of each of the 8 non-TN alignments tried to steal some powerful item from the rilmani. They were caught and cursed by the rilmani to go on some quest or something. They were all bound to each other that if any of them died or even got too separated, they would all die. Plus some rilmani was sent along to keep tabs on them.
Of course it would have to be tweaked (don’t want a single PC death to be an auto-TPK so maybe a short window to allow resurrection or something and start at higher level), but it seemed like an interesting dynamic to have representatives of conflicting alignments forced to work together or die. Maybe make it only the non-neutral alignments (with the TN overseer/intermediary maybe) to keep it a reasonable party size. Also would need players that can do intra-party conflicts without annoying each other in real life. ;)
A while back I ran a "everyone takes at least 1 level in bard" one shot that was very fun. The party ended up as the following:
- 70+ year old Human Monk/College of Glamour Bard
- Orc Storm Herald Bardbarian
- Kobold College of Lore bard
- Tabaxi Rogue swashbuckler/bard
- Halfling Fighter/bard
- Half-elf College of Swords bard
The session was amazing as they all had some amusing homebrewed magic items as well. There was explosions, a bag of bees, a feral Danny Devito, a performance off with an archfey and the Kobold for some reason being the only person with a positive Intelligence score (13). The session ended with the Monk/Bard player choosing to have his character have a heart attack and as his final act using one of the homebrewed magic items to make the party crap themselves.
I am also going to be playing a game soon with a interesting party. The rest of the party is a Bard, Rogue/Paladin, Warlock and Sorcerer. Then there is my character the Halfling Barbarian who is going to somehow try and make sure none of them get hit.
