I have my gripes about D&D Beyond but on the whole, they're minor and (slowly) getting fixed. I decided during the open beta that I trusted the team at DDB to be passionate, dedicated people who were worthy of being supported and so went all in on a Legendary Bundle and Master Tier subscription and have since purchased Xanathar's and the Tortle Package.
My faith in them is (slowly) getting rewarded. At the end of the day, even if it was never updated, it still provides me with a lot of what I've wanted in a digital reference for many years, and gives me most of what I need to run a game at the table without books.
So to me it was money well spent. I think I'm not in the minority on this despite the fact that there seems to be a core group of people who are committed to denigrating DDB at every chance they get, across many RPG forums. So to them, it's not worth it, but then again, I'm quite positive that they're the (very) vocal minority on this.
Thanks for the quick reply OGL, I am an instructor running a gaming group at the school I teach. The parents group has offered to get us something, and the Legendary Bundle is what I'm looking for. I'm interested especially in having the 3 DMs our group has be able to run their own campaigns, having access to all the books would be sweet indeed, I'm thinking.

With 3 DMs and a Master Tier subscription, you could have 36 players (plus whoever owned the account) (12 each campaign slot) who would have access to all the content. It's practically giving the content away when you think about it like that.
To me, getting the legendary bundle depends entirely on if you plan to run enough of the modules to be worth the extra cost. I only run homebrew stuff, so I didn't think the full legendary was worth buying. However, I have bought the DMG, PHB, MM, and XGTE, with a master tier sub. One player has Volos so we have all our bases covered for the core material. We also own all of those books in hard copies as well, many in multiple copies.
Hey Erylia, I definitely see my players and DM's being interested in running Strahd, SKT, not to mention ToA, which we are playing now. And we can have those adventures for future club members to play.
Yeah, it really looks like a no brainer. And if I read it correctly, this comes with Xanathars guide, correct?
Correct. As new source books are released, the Legendary Bundle will be updated to include all sources (with of course the price rising to include the new source book once the 15% discount is taken into account). Once a Legendary bundle is purchased the account also inherits a permanent 15% discount for all future source books that are released, should you wish to purchase them.
as stated by Erylia, it depends on you really. As far as use and user experience, I'd suggest buying 1 book, and checking that out. We all have different tastes and thoughts of what this product should be, so telling you this is great but that stinks might not directly correlate to you.
If you really like it, that cost is deducted from the legendary bundle cost to you; if you don't, well you didn't just drop $300+ on something you don't think is worth it.
I personally bought the rulebooks (PHB, MM, DMG, SCAG, Volo's, XGTE) and 1 module (POTA) with a master sub. The 1 module is because I was running it and thought it may help, but I honestly find using the book to be a bit better at times, and I also find it super annoying it shares the module with the players, if I want to share anything else. I have the rulebooks for the character creator, which is really nice but definitely needs improvement in my opinion.
I have found the legendary bundle to be well worth it. I haven't run any of the pre-made adventures and have no plans to run them either, but I have often run into needing a cave, castle or mine in an home brew adventure. You do a universal search and it brings up 5-8 ready made maps with monster suggestions that you can modify from there.

With your situation, it really is a great fit! (And that's awesome that you have an actual gaming group with support of parents group!)
I'm in a similar situation with two of my teenage kids, although not with an official school club. My son and his friends got interested in D&D and started playing every weekend this summer, and my daughter's "Gay Straight Alliance" club (that's mostly an inclusive, welcoming social group) decided to start a D&D campaign for fun this Fall. Between being new to the game as well as some coming from financially struggling families, very few bought even the Player's Handbook for themselves. Only 1 out of both groups bought the DMG and Monster Manual. With the Legendary Bundle & Master Tier, I was able to supply everyone in both groups with all of the books.
Plus, personally, I was planning on buying most of them anyway for my home games since it's easier to sneak in a little game prep at work with online resources. :) But the content sharing is really the killer feature for these sorts of situations. Plus, especially with Xanathar's and Volo's Guides, I find having all of the options in one place is quite a bit easier. Thankfully it's not like Pathfinder or previous editions yet, where you need to look at 12 different books if you want to explore your options, but it's already still useful having them consolidated.
Technically, you could probably save a bit by just getting the individual books they want, but if you have 3 DMs and each might run a different adventure, it's not much of a stretch to just go Legendary. So I'd recommend playing around with the free content if you haven't already just to make sure how the site operates will generally work for you. If it works, I (clearly) very much recommend the Legendary Bundle & Master Tier. I'm starting to sound like a paid advertisement, but I really do thoroughly enjoy easy access to all of that content. Since the launch in August, I have probably read more D&D books cover-to-cover than in any previous edition (where I would tend to just skim and read relevant stuff). Just pop open the site on my iPad when I have some free time in a waiting room or in the kitchen while dinner is cooking. It's great.
Thanks so much for the reply Ken! I have to say I've only had a few days with the Legendary Bundle, but it's already proving an invaluable resource. We have 2 campaigns running, and I am training up a student to take the reins and become a DM in her own right. I teach at a school that trains young people on the autism spectrum to become VFX and animation artists. They are super talented, but suffer socially, so D&D is an amazing tool to help them learn to cooperate with others to achieve your goals. This Legendary Bundle is really a perfect solution for me, and I'm glad to hear you have enjoyed it as well.
Thank you for taking the time to write that feedback - we all love D&D and it's great to hear that D&D Beyond is proving such a valuable asset for helping you to help those young people. :)
It'll probably be years before I wind up having the Legendary Bundle. But with the way the purchase price of individual content applies towards the full price of the books and that in turn applies to the price of the Legendary Bundle I'll get it eventually. $5-20 dollars at a time.

I'm considering getting it, but that's a lot of money. Would like to see if anyone has purchased it, and what they thought.
