Digital sourcebooks (such as the Player's Handbook or Volo's Guide to Monsters) will be available for $29.99, while adventure modules (such as Curse of Strahd or Storm King's Thunder) will be available for $24.99.
For the first week after launch, the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual will be on sale for $19.99 each!
Can we get some additional info on the expanded scope of the "Founders' Pricing" event planned for the first week? In the Digital Trends article, you're quoted as saying that adventure modules will also be discounted.
Thanks! I'm super-excited, even though I know I don't have the cash to plop down for the kind of "Ultimate Package" being discussed.

I have seen some people wondering what purchased content would look like (and have wondered that myself) beyond the mechanics incorporated into the relevant sections (races, monsters, etc.), especially adventures. Since you have Elemental Evil Player's Companion content on the site (presumably because it's a free download from WotC), what about adding it as a specific book in the Compendium? It could be a free sample to show exactly what a purchased sourcebook would look like.
As for adventures, I would be very interested to see how they look and work in the compendium. The "Storm King's Thunder: A Great Upheaval" is another free download, but an adventure. Personally, I'm already all in on purchasing the sourcebooks, but I'm on the fence with adventures. Seeing how a full adventure would look (rather than just that Curse of Strahd screenshot that has been shared a few times here) would go a long way in helping me decide. (probably in favor of purchasing - *hint hint*) ;)
Edited to add link to Curse of Strahd screenshot to clarify.
I would guess that VERY soon after launch there will be a large number of streamers and YouTubers giving you some detailed looks at the content and how it works!

For the index, there will be the layout similar to the compedium now.
I should have linked to it, but that's the screenshot I was referring to and have seen several times in this thread. Also, YouTubers and streamers would help as well, but I would like something I can click around myself and give a test run, especially an adventure since that format is much more complex than a sourcebook.

Thank you both, however!
Aye. A solid in-depth sample would help me understand what I'd be buying in ways no review or screenshot could. And I think I need that to get off the fence as I waffle about buying the books through here.

Just to clarify, I wasn't actually quoted on that pricing from Digital Trends - he wrote that from other information he was given and was actually not specific enough.
The three core rulebooks (PHB, DMG, MM) will be available the first week for their lowest price ever - $19.99 each. The adventures will be $24.99 (which is their normal price).

I too am curious how the layout of adventures would work. Also how the rules and items from adventures will be integrated.

There will certainly be more in-depth previews between now and launch.
In the short term, I can share that the adventures will have the full text of the adventure with all of the interior art. Maps and art will be clickable into a lightbox for high-res versions, and from there they can be downloaded for full-size versions in you want to use those in a VTT or anywhere else.
All relevant text will be cross-linked/ tooltipped like everything else in the site. It's really nice to run a session using these...just hover over a monster to see AC, Hit Points, and so on on the fly, or click out to a new tab to see the creature's full statistics very quickly.
In short, it is a digital copy of the book with full linking and all art.
Of course, these will become even more useful down the road as we add the encounter builder and combat management - all these adventures will automatically receive all that functionality.
After reading most of this thread (and this may have already been asked and I just missed it), the only question I have is whether or not the encounter tracker will be available at launch on the 15th? I plan on purchasing the PHB, DMG, and MM on launch day and, as a DM, I think the most useful and instantly gratifying thing right out of the gate would be an encounter tracker with the means to link back to all the monster stats and such. I am super excited about that feature and really hope it will be there on launch day (if not sooner for beta testing purposes).
I *really* hope when this ends up shooting Wizards in the foot, they adjust their pricing accordingly instead of viewing DnDBeyond as a failure and scrapping it. Say $10-15 for the books, with the content being included for free in the subscription. There's a lot of good stuff here - I like the subscription pricing, and will probably take advantage of the reduced price for the books during the first week launch - but I can certainly understand people having a problem with the book pricing, as it shows complete ignorance of the current market.
You do realize that Wizards of the Coast isn't the developer behind D&D Beyond, don't you? Curse has zero incentive to offer their work, development, and services for free to consumers of a different retailer. If not for the intellectual property license alone, they have transcribed, coded, and hyperlinked their way through each of the core books to provide the experience digitally. That work alone is worth charging for. WotC publishes physical books - Curse develops D&D Beyond.
So, not to rehash an old argument, but as I read more and more press releases, Wizards' name almost always comes up first, with Curse being buried in the last paragraph or two of the article. WotC is using DnDBeyond as the big "Wizards enters the 21st century digital age" promotion and slapping their name all over the place on this. So, yeah, as more and more people come here from those articles, ya'll are just going to get more Wizards directed ire.
I do not envy the Curse team in this particular area at all (though I would love to be in the office helping with design!).

This sounds incredible, thank you for painting a broader picture for us. I look forward to seeing more tantalizing glimpses as we creep towards launch. As I've said elsewhere already, I'm definitely in for the core books, LMoP and SKT, plus a DM sub on day . Can't wait to see how the campaign tools grow over time as well.
A question of my own RE: Lost Mine. Curious how this will be positioned and priced. As the physical starter box, it was a super cheap pricepoint to get the basic rules as well as a fantastic sandbox adventure. On DDB, will it be an adventure only? Plus the pre-gens, I'd assume? With the free SRD/Basic content here, we aren't really buying the same product in digital. It can be priced at $24.99 like a hardcover adventure, right?

It is not going to be there at launch, but it is "a major, major priority" (source) .

This is a great idea, especially for the adventures. (And, since A Great Upheaval is the first chapter of SKT, it shouldn't be that much extra work.)
A thought and a question occur. In the DMG there are tables for randomly generating a dungeon. While I have no doubt that these will be in the resource material provided by buying the dmg will we see something akin to the character creator for dungeons? A dungeon creator for lack of a less on the nose name.

We've actually been talking about this concept this very week - it's been added to the list!

I second the motion :)
From the start, we have said that what we are testing as part of the three phases of beta would be the feature set for launch.
The encounter builder and monster progression will not be available, but they are the next major feature we will focus on delivering.

Just to clarify: We will get additional options inside the current features at launch correct, for instance we cannot home brew races currently, but we will be able to a launch?
So when will the ability to print Character Sheets happen? How about the DMs notes, will we be able to print those? Without the print feature this whole product is useless to me as we don't allow devices at the table.
