Leftenant looks the corpses over cursorily as the group passes the fallen elves hoping to find a bow and some arrows. He doesn’t stop for a full search as the group moves up the hill though, this isn’t the time for that.
If he can’t find any he might see Glyptemis try to pass off the Rapier. He would take it as the tortle produces his own Shadow Blade, giving a nod of acceptance.
He will hold his attack until after one of the group lands a hit. He will target the same opponent.

Glyptemis glides his way up the hill, brandishing the Shadow Blade as he approaches behind the elves. Suddenly, the swirling shadows of the dark sword become mixed with green fire as he casts Green Flame Blade and slashes across one of the elves, fire exploding from the strike and singing the other elf next to them. Glyptemis continues his hum, holding his blade in front of him as it seems to drink some of the light from the area.
(Move) Distance to reach the elves, movement is 40ft w/ Bladesong (Action) Green Flame Blade, attacking with the Shadow Blade with advantage as we are in dim light. 1,18+5=23 to hit for 7+5=12 psychic damage + 4 fire damage to the other elf from Green Flame Blade (Bonus) n/a
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Leftenant is able to grab a shortbow and quiver with 16 arrows in it off one of the corpses as you all move up the hill. The bladesinger's shadowy sword cuts through the pale elf on the left, green flames rolling off the slash to scorch the next one. Both cry out in surprise as the attacks take them from behind. An arrow whizzes by their cheek afterwards, as Leftenant's shot goes a little wide.
The elf who took a direct hit from Glyptemis's Shadow Blade whirls around, blood running from both nostrils. He drops the bow from his hand, drawing a rapier in the other. With lightning speed he stabs forward. In a puff of shadow the elf disappears, reappearing 30 feet west on the hill.
Lyra rarely doubts herself, yet she chews her lip now, hoping the choice to attack the elves is the right one, based on limited evidence as it is.
Buying a moment to think she plays another quiet riff on her dark harmonica and grins at LT. "Such a gentleman! Granting them a warning shot like that."
Walking up the hill but staying out of melee, Lyra sighs and makes up her mind. Her irises strobe to black briefly as a shadowy beam of dark energy seems to build from her harmonica and through her fingertips, shooting out at the red and white elf who had teleported, pushing them further away on a hit.
Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration to Leftenant (now Glyptemis, Kalamin and Leftenant all have a 1d6 to use as needed). Movement: Up the hill but still out of melee. Action: Eldritch Blast at more injured red and white elf who had teleported away. Eldritch Blast to hit: 15 Eldritch Blast damage: 5 (min) force damage Repelling Blast (Forced Movement with no save): on a hit, target is pushed 10' away from Lyra.
She speaks conversationally in Elivish to the other elf, the one still in melee with Glyptemis:
"Who are you elves of red and white that speak your own variant of Elvish? Far from home, I think. You may as well tell me, seeing as you are likely not long for this world. A lifespan of centuries cut short to seconds. All for what?"
A black strobe streaks between the trees, striking the elf in the chest. He lets out a surprised and pained yell as he's pushed backwards to the edge of the hill, nearly teetering over the edge of it. You can see that he's unsteady on his feet now, as the wounds he's sustained already in the battle combined with what your group has dished out have nearly pushed him to his limit.
Seeing the others leap into action inspires a great deal of confidence in Juno. She doesn't want to put the one elf down since Lyra is questioning them, and the other is being handled readily. There are more enemies and unknown around and Juno feels a touch impotent at the moment, but she has a plan. She'll play backup and prepare for the possibility of reinforcements approaching due to the light and noise.
Movement: Toward the dead elf the shortbow came from.
Action: Dip a couple of fingers in the fresh blood and use it to draw as best she can on her prisoner's tunic a wreath of flame. (If that doesn't necessarily use her action, she'll opt to hold an action afterwards)
"Please forgive me...." She says as she takes the dead elf's blood
Movement part 2electric boogaloo: She will use any remaining movement to position herself within 30ft of both elves if possible. If not, then as close to it as she can get.
He replies to Lyra in somewhat broken Elvish: "If I fall here, I will return. These rats will kill you for nothing." A quick gesture over his shoulder towards those on the other hill. "If you want to serve something greater..." He disappears in a puff of black mist like the other, reappearing 30 feet west closer to his ally. The elf does not raise his bow to you, but gestures for you to follow.
On the other hill, two of the four figures raise their crossbows again, loosing bolts at Glyptemis and Kalamin.
Kalamin holds the dagger up, running his finger along the blade as he whispers something in draconic, 'ti svaklar sia mitne tepohaic ethima.' It's briefly bathed in a soft blue light before the radiance fades to simply outline the dagger. He discards the words of the elf almost immediately, they reeked of fanaticism to him. It was their corpses around the prison wagon, and they were the ones in defensive positions. Coupled with the tiefling woman's familiarity with them, the doubt was erased from his mind.
He rips a bolt from his arm, glaring across the hill to the four assailants. "We have no friends here it seems."
He sprints after the injured elf, thrusting forward awkwardly with the dagger.
Movement: However much to reach the injured elf. Action: Dagger Attack To Hit: 14 Damage: 5 + 3 radiant Bonus Action:Divine Favor
Kalamin's dagger thrust is dodged away by the elf, a taunting grin takes over his face before a bolt flies across and catches a gap in his armor. Shock. Surprise. Then his body tumbles back down the hill. A second bolt flies wide past the paladin.

Glyp looks back and forth between the two elves and the other four assailants, then bolts in the direction of the four attackers across the hill. Mid-run he takes a quick jump and pulls his arms and legs into his shell, which then further sucks into itself in a puff of smoke, only to reappear next to the four attackers. His limbs thrust out of his shell directly into a cartwheel, the shadow blade drawing a circle of green flames through the air as he slashes at one of the assailants with a Green Flame Blade that explodes onto another of the attackers.
"End this now and explain yourselves! We have no idea what's going on and I really don't want to have to kill you!"
DM: from up close can I observe anything else about these attackers?
(Move) Run towards the attackers, intermingled with (Bonus Action) Misty Step to close the distance. (Action) Green Flame Blade with Shadow Blade 1,14+5=19 to hit for 9 Psychic damage + 4 Fire to a nearby enemy
There is a pained groan as the shadowy blade passes through one of the attackers, hand going to their head. Another next to him brushes off the flames that scorch their outer cloak, which you can see have been burned through on the shoulder now.
Their hoods are up and they have gaiters covering the lower half of their faces. But in their eyes you can see a cold determination, they heard you - but they aren't listening.
OoC: As a note, Shadow Blade adds ability modifier to the damage. So that'd 12 damage. Sorry I didn't catch it last time.
Leftenant had questions about who was friend and who was foe from the moment he came to in the wagon, that included the other occupants. (He didn’t know any of them.) But at least they all had one thing in common, chains.
He was fairly sure those with chain armor were their captors. The ‘handy’ Tiefling, what was her name again, Juno? She seemed to indicate the same about the elf mage. And the others are wearing a leather armor. He wouldn’t have heard that from the inside of the wagon.
But could it be that EVERYONE was after them for some reason? Then why did these strange elves offer us to follow them if they captured us?(Yes, LT understands elven, but not their strange dialect.) He tries to recall any information about either faction from his years of service to the military of the Solari Empire.
He snaps back to reality as his arrow goes wide, “I’m used to a longer draw on the string” he offers to Lyra (in elven) as a lame excuse. He somehow feels his next shot might be better as the eerie notes wash over him.
“I served the Empire for 30 years! What could be greater than that!” He address the teleporting fey.
He follows Glyp’s nimbleness and acrobatics trying to cover the turtle’s attack. He takes aim at the new injured assailant and lets his arrow fly.

As she finishes scratching out a wreath of flames symbol on her tunic in the quickly drying blood, Juno can’t help but hear Leftenant mention his service in the military. 30 years serving the Empire? Filing that away for later. A conversation for less harrowing moments.
Gripping the tunic by the edge with her teeth, she tears away the bit with the symbol on it. Finally!
“Please….please let this work….” She says under her breath, and then musters up a prayer.
”By warming grace! By scorching wrath! Ignite the light of our souls, Lady of Flame Eternal! Let our actions blaze with your will!” She thrusts the dirty fabric into the air. The bloody symbol smolders, igniting into a wreath of flame that consumes the very cloth it emblazoned! In the same moment, Leftenant, Glyp, Kal, and Lyra feel a warmth inside of them. An emboldening and furious spark ignites, granting each of them a fiery blessing.
Action: cast a Level 2 Bless on Leftenant, Glyp, Kal, and Lyra.
Movement: taking cover behind the carriage again if movement permits.
In Elvish, Lyra responds sardonically to the surviving red and white elf who had replied to her about following something greater:
"Take this as constructive criticism, but the sequencing of your marketing pitch requires some fine tuning. Potential recruits may be more receptive to following 'something greater' before you emerge from dark portals to capture, shackle and transport them against their will. Less so after."
Nevertheless, Lyra switches targets to the implacable enemies on the other hill, targeting the most injured surviving one - either the one that Glyptemis and LT had hit, or if that one is down, then the one secondarily singed by the tortle'sGreen Flame Blade. She moves 30' west away from the chasm. Feeling bolstered by a fiery grace that is at odds with her shadowy patron, another beam of dark energy shoots from Lyra's harmonica, through her fingertips.
Meanwhile, she calls to her fellow ex-prisoners (Common): "There are three other carts. After this skirmish, we may wish to check if our gear is there so we can arm and armor ourselves more thoroughly before taking on the others. All the better if the rest wear each other down in the meantime."

The prison wagon is too far for Juno to take cover behind, but there are some boulders atop the hill she's able to hide behind.
As his comrade falls, the remaining pale elf turns to survey the rest of the battle, looking for something. "This could have been easy for you, painless." He says disappointedly in elvish. With a small shake of his head, he turns and dashes down the hill into the fray(6o ft northwest).
OoC: This provokes an attack of opportunity for Kalamin.
Without skipping a beat, two of the camouflage wearing interlopers drop their hand crossbows and draw shortswords as their comrade falls under the combined attacks of Glyptemis, LT, and Lyra. As the elf moves to run away Kalamin slices at his back with the dagger. He's about to give chase when he glances around, spotting Glyptemis engaged with three all on his own. With a quiet curse he lets the elf flee, turning on his heel to run down the other side of the hill to get to the Tortle.
