Draíocht asks Wrovak, "Your knives made nifty little darts. Could I purchase a couple off your hands if you've got change for a gold?" He turns to Thelanis, "And what do you think of our situation as it stands, ma'am? Would you prefer to wait until morning or do you have other thoughts?"
Draíocht will offer to take the first 4 hours of watch, training the remainder. He asks for some assistance to board up the door in case if Sandford's return and will cast Goodberry. (Intent on keeping those for the next day.)
Wrovak will smart at you putting nails in his doorframe, but rents when he realises it’s likely the wisest course of action. Most of the bar patrons leave pretty quickly after Sanfords attack, and soon the inn is empty.
You can all file into the room upstairs, it’s a small room with two bucks in it, just big enough to fit you all. You can also set watches from here as it overlooks the street of the small mining town.
While you all set watches and spend the night, are there any stories your characters would like to share? Your reason for coming to Alaria, the province your currently in. Maybe a story of your previous lives. Or even small talk about the food at the inn or the night’s events.
Amiz rethinks on what has transpired that evening and wonders if he should have taken on the dretch first, but a part of him knows leaving a wizard to cast spells is dangerous. "Well, I see each of you know your way in combat and for that you have my thanks especially for the healing. I am Amiz a leonin sell sword here to make a coin. Damn if only I could plant my axe into Sanford's chest, then his threat would be over."
Draíocht sighs, "Aye. Wish he hadn't run away. But at least we know more about what we're dealing with." He twiddles a tavern knife in his fingers. "I hope you make some coin, Amiz. Anything in particular you're looking to purchase?"
He adds, "In a sense I'm looking for coin myself. Just what I want to buy is a peaceful woods again."
You all settle down for the evening, setting watches, with Draíocht doing the lion's share; his elvish anatomy not needing as much sleep as the rest of you. Although there is some movement out on the street through the night, nothing out of the ordinary for a town such as this. You can all mark off a Long Rest. As you wake you feel your training and experience has started to come into it's own, you all level up to Level 2.
Wrovak sleeps through the morning, so he doesn't greet you downstairs. You stand in the bar, with the carnage from last night generally cleaned up, but the smell of the Dretch still hanging in the air.
What's the plan for the morning, here are a few options open to you:
1. Explore the town, visiting people, searching for information, and going to stores: Blacksmith, General Store, Dwaren Mining Association, Temple of Isia, Constable's Quarters.
2. Track down Sanford.
3. Investigate the rumours of Goblins on the Neurath Slopes.
4. Travel over the Slopes and on to Kholias, where the darkness rises.
You can all mark off a Long Rest. As you wake you feel your training and experience has started to come into it's own, you all level up to Level 2.
[[ Booyah! Went for circle of the moon as mentioned before. Added Brown Bear, Dire Wolf, Warhorse, Giant Spider, and Giant Badger as wildshape forms at the moment. Figure that's reasonable versatility without clogging the list and realistic to have seen. Added Detect Magic to the prepared spells for the day. ]]
"If we're tracking Sandford, I'd like to know a bit more about those woods if we can. Think it'd be worth asking the good folks of this town about it?"
[[ Seemed like the general thought was towards getting Sandford. Not sure if any of you have equipment you're looking to buy. For Draíocht would be nice to get a longbow, but that's kind of out of his price range at the moment. Curious what you guys would like. ]]
Valar agrees, "we need to know more about the region we are about to enter. Of course that if we can get some of the locals to speak to us. Personally, I would like to stop in the Temple of Isia for my devotions, and as to where we venture forth, I'd like to get my hands on Sanford, but I think that may be drawing us away from our purpose here. Same with the goblins, if we're here to deal with the darkness."
You could certainly all go to the Temple of Isia, and there find out who in town would know about the woods.
Another option would be to split up. Valar going to the temple, while Draíocht asks around for information about the woods near the town. You others can either choose to accompany them or do your own things.
Amiz still has Sanford on his mind "I feel if we leave him be hill will become a thorn in our side and may come back with more dretches. I am willing to go with Draiocht to ask around."
Ok, so there'll be two groups. One is Valar going to the Temple of Isia.
Where are the rest of you going to go to find out more about the area around town?
At this point Wraven has woken up and is making his breakfast. He greets you all with a lightly warm smile. You could ask him about the town if you want?
Draíocht turns to Thelanis, "The townsfolk might be more comfortable with a human. You want to come with Amiz and myself?" To Wrovak he says, "Good morning." He then adds, "You mentioned a warning of going into Kholias, but would you know any townsfolk that went to the woods and came back with their sanity?"
Wrovak thinks about what you've said. "Well the Dim Woods aren't the problem, people go in and out of there without an issue. It's what's beyond that you have to worry about. The Neurath Slopes is swarming with goblin-men they say. And then of course beyond that is Kholias Ruins." He shakes his head. "If you want to learn more, best go see Constable Adger. She's an old ranger who's been patrolling the Dim Woods since she was a girl. If you're inclined to, you could also see the dwarves at the Torios Syndicate, the big building on the hill. They often run expeditions through the woods into the Slopes. I'll warn you they're frosty those dwarves though."

Valar nods. "I would like to find this Sanford, his soul is black and tainted, and needs to be cleansed so as to not harm anymore innocents."

Draíocht tenses up for a moment, remembering the hostility from the night before. "Think you'd be able to do the talking?" he asks Amiz.
