As Quill materialized the axe and begins to chop down the tree, Lero calls out, "I wouldn't do that..." But either Quill didn't care or he didn't hear him. Eventually the ground shook, and a few seconds later the tree fell. Lero shakes his head from his perch and says, "The fiends control the wurms here and that cutting made a lot of vibrations."
Minutes later Lero spots Namura returning and in answer to her question he merely shrugs and says, "It called em a soulless aether-hole and he got mad." He sighs, "Anything?"
"Yeah, big hole with stairs leading down it, lot's of footprints," Namura replied absently. "Do trees often insult you, Quill? I talk to them all the time, but normally they don't respond to me."
Quill shrugged. "I do what I need to. The tree's outlook on me isn't anything of my concern. My reason was the need for a boat. And if the tree did insult me, I wouldn't cut it down," Quill paused as he thought of what he would do. "I'm not sure what I would do. But anyways, we have this now." Quill gestured at the log. "I will assist anyone who wishes to construct a boat or raft, since I am not well-versed in the creation of aquatic vessels."
"Namura, the tunnels are not a good option. Remember last time? We didn't know where we were going, and when we left, time had been distorted. Since what we are doing is time sensitive, going that way is not an option that we can afford to take. And you said there were demons in the tunnels - we would risk being surrounded by them if we went that way. And it seems pretty clear that we'd find them down there if there are well used steps. As such, we are building a raft for Turbo, since it's the limiting factor in us crossing the swamp overland."
Flux starts work on building the raft for Turbo, aided by Quill.

"Hard to argue with that logic," Lero states, "Either a few hours by boat according to Quill, or a few weeks in the tunnels." He puts his arms up like a scale indicating Quill's idea seems less risky. But he adds, "I wouldn't mind returning to that tunnel another time though. Hunting fiends sounds exhilarating."
As Quill worked on the raft, an idea struck him. "Buama, do you have enough parts to make a propulsion system or two? We might get there faster if- Ow!" Quill's hand slipped as he was speaking, and a small cut on his finger formed, seeming to bleed pure Aether. Quill sighed, and tore off a small piece of his tunic to wrap his finger in. "As I was saying, we might get there faster if we had a propulsion system. Think you can do something like that?"
Since all fiends are in the same direction, we might be able to fight them on our way back from the Dark Site. I don't like the idea of living more then one hundred of them loose in this forest. I agree with Flux, we can go to the Dark Site, fix it, put it back to work and then go hunting for demons. I will keep alert while you work, I don't have the tools or the knowledge on how to build it.
With that said, Kraithee stands a few feet away from the party and focus on his senses. (Perception 1d20+4 = 22)
The droning of insects almost drowns out Quill's work on the log. It took him a few minutes to fish the tree out of the water, but he is diligent on completing that boat so the party can cross through the swamp. With the fog thickening, Kraithee moves out onto the docks to look at the water [PC's visibility is limited to thirty feet]. Observing the water, he notes the minor ripples of movement, but they seem to grow larger and larger. Calling out, he says, "Something's not right with the water! I think we shou..." His voice is drowned out by screams of Quill and Duncan. Suddenly, the combined roars is at least six dragons echo across the surrounding area, as another figure arises out of the lake and descends on the party.
Two huge monstrosities, with glowing green aether seeming to drip from their maws come into view of the party, each one with six heads.
In three great steps, Lero flies forward, rapier in hand, and thrusts at one of the heads of the giant beast (left one). It easily moves aside as all of the heads are writhing in unison. He then dodges backward, landing at the same spot he started.
Buama sends Lizzy, the name she finally decided to use for her flying, mechanical servant, flying out over the water and in behind the beast on the right. In the excitement she forgot she wanted Lizzy to only help, but had her attack instead. Both the claws and the beak hit doing a good deal of damage. Buama followed up with her thunder cannon on the same head that Lizzy had attacked. The gun went off with a satisfying boom, but the effect of the head exploding was downright disgusting. At least, that should mess up the other two on the beast some... hopefully.
(Meta: beak - hit 16, damage 9; claw - hit 19, damage 10; thunder cannon - hit 21, damage 15)

"With these swamp monsters, do you still think boats are the best course of action?" Namura shouted angrily, before charging the six headed beast on the left. She slashed at it with both shortswords after casting Hunter's Mark, but the ranger was unable to hit it.
Seeing the creatures appear and attack Quill and Ducan and not having time to warn the party, Kraithee decides to try and see if fire hurts this creatures. With careful gestures and precise words of arcane power Kraithee unleashes 3 fire rays toward to the creature closer to him and then moves back 20 feet to keep the creature in the limit of his line of sight.
Cast Scorching Ray to hit 1d20+6= 23, 1d20+6 = 24 and 1d20+6 = 10, damage of two rays 2d6 = 7 and 2d6 = 11. total 18 fire damage to creature on the left.
"Ow," Quill said, falling to one knee. "Gonna need a way out. Allen!" The raven swooped down and touched Quill's shoulder, allowing him to vanish in a flash of light. Quill, now controlling Allen directly, disengaged from the Hydra, and flew upwards, putting himself 50 feet above the battlefield. I'll need to find a way to heal, and quick. I can't outlast these beasts in this form, Quill thought to himself as he circled the skirmish.
As Quill flies out of the way, Flux moves 5 feet south as Turbo begins to emit aetheric steam, before moving 10 feet north to charge at the beast. It pounces, and as it strikes the beast with is claw [Attack roll 22] raking its flesh [Damage roll 12], the beast falls Prone[Failed DC 10 Str save], right as Flux's vial of acid flies towards it [Failed DC 14 Dex save], landing on its flank [Damage roll 12]. Turbo then bites the beast [Attack roll 21], and sinking its teeth into the beast's hide [Damage roll 8].

Shrugging off the attack Duncan looked for something, anything to use. His sword would be useless against that. Next to him was a bolder. This will do. With an effort He he reached out to the giant rock with his mind and flung it at the beast, sending the bolder crashing into its body.

The monster on the left charges, overstepping Namura as it places itself in the center of Namura, Lero, and Kraithee. Two heads lunge for each of them, as the heads targetting Namura glow with the bright green aether glow that seems to make them up from within. [All attacks hit, dealing a lot of damage].
The monster on the right holds its position, launching all five of the remaining heads to Turbo. The others can some movement from the stem of the exploded head, as the skin quickly forms over and something seems to be rapidly growing underneath. Two of the heads glow fiercely as they attack, and while one of them misses, the other two land nasty bites on Turbo [Four of the five attacks hit, dealing a lot of damage]. Suddenly, two new heads burst from the neck of the dead head, making a grand total of seven heads on the monster on the right.
The damage dealt to Turbo does not look fun to repair, thinks Flux to himself as he pulls another flask of alchemical acid towards the hydra [Failed Dex save, Damage roll 14]. Turbo weakly tries to claw at the beast, but one of the servos for its limb busts and it misses [Attack Roll 10].

This is bad, Quill thought as he swooped lower to the ground. He descended 15 feet as he made his way to a spot roughly 30 feet south of the hydra that had attacked him. I'll need to break out all I've got. Hopefully that boost to combat HE gave me will help. But I need to get closer... But also stay further away. Quill thought about the hydra that he had first come into contact with. I hope they enjoy being punched magically in the face. Well, faces. Does each of those heads have a brain?

The creature charges Lero, biting down with one head and nearly taking his head off with the other. In response Lero shoves his rapier deep in the chest of the Hydra, piercing something vital. (23 Damage) He moves back from the melee and assesses the situation. He can tell something is going on to the east, but he can't tell if they're faring well due to the fog. Because of this, he dashes over to get a better look and calls out, "We've got one on the right and one to the left! Everyone is still standing but I don't know how much longer we can last!"
