"Our lady, our patron, miss Ireena! We were hoping to find you here! We've just saved the lives of these two little ones, and they are in desperate need of a caring home. Do you think you could help them the same way you helped that other boy, Valeno?" He turns his attention to the innkeeper.
"You should be especially glad! Now that there are no more pastries being sold, more people will be coming to you for your delightful wolf stew..."
"I'm sorry, did I track mud in?" He asks, noticing the eerie silence.
Valanthe kneels down to the children and whispers, "What do you see that we don't? What frightens you so?"
"W-we thought the w-wolves would e-eat us." says Lucian.

Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Valanthe gives them a big hug, "Don't worry children - we wouldn't let that happen. There are some kind people here - no wolves, but a lot of ravens and they dance as they fly through the air."
Emre looks around for the source of this sudden change in ambience.

Emre keeps walking around, trying to be subtle. She prods the fire with a poker, and takes her time approaching the bar where Urwin is. If nothing is obvious, she'll talk to the innkeeper.
"Urwin," she nods as she sits. "Everything okay?"
(Again, dialogue is just if Emre can't already get a good feel for what's got everyone so down)
As Emre walks around, she notices the following people sitting silently in the shadows. She makes out that Rictavio is sitting in the far corner at a table, drinking wine. Two men in wolfskin cloaks sit together by the fire. Two men barely older than twenty sit drinking wine and whispering to each other. A grim, hulking figure sits at a table, and Emre is unable to make out many details.
Urwin replies to Emre, "Everything's fine. Its usually this quiet when not many people are here."

“Ireena” Thpas begins again with a great wide grin. ”You seem to of made a name for yourself among the children are in the surrounding areas. When we mentioned your name their faces lit up as if they had seen the first casting of prestidigitation. They were very much looking forward to meeting with you. I believe now would be appropriate to make introductions don’t you think?”
Valanthe walks up to the bar to Urwin saying, "A drink please Urwin... You know those pastry bakers? They were a coven of HAGS. I don't want to tell you what we found there - it's... it's depressing, but two of those hagswill no longer be an issue. Unfortunately, the third one escaped - possibly to another plane of existence. Then coming back to town a pack of werewolves tried to chase us down - we barely made it through the gates. Made more difficult by the guards there.. they didn't want to let us in! The children we saved from those hags were with us. They're still in shock I think."
Valanthe looks down at the bar and stool, continuing, "Sorry about the blood. Those hags got a lot of good hits on me. I'll clean it up before going up stairs to rest. Rest is desperately needed."
Byllemura sits close to Valanthe: "Urwin, another drink for me please. The strongest you have." Turning to Val: "That was a tough one, wasn't it? You alright?"

Urwin looks puzzled and tries to contemplate what Valanthe meant. "That's good... I think. The wervolves have been more active lately. They have a den near the village of Krezk west of here."

The large shape stands up upon hearing Valanthe tell Urwin about the day's encounter. He says in a deep, empty voice, "I am Izek Stranzi. Vargas is my master." He then steps into the light. He is the man you met in here in the morning. He stands nearly 7 feet tall and wears a wolfskin cloak. In his right arm, he holds a gruesome looking axe. His left arm is hidden under his cloak. His expression is a stoic glare and his head is bald. "If the guards caused you trouble, you must have caused trouble first." he says, never changing his tone.

"Izek... I think we briefly met earlier today. Well, I'll disagree with you on that point. With those children under our protection, we had to run for our lives from a pack of werewolves - the guards at the gate were a little slow to open the gate up, let's say. And as you can see," Valanthe motions to the blood still somewhat oozing from beneath her armor, "we were in no shape to take on a pack of werewolves ourselves."
After taking another sip of her drink, she continues, "So while I find your passion to defend your soldiers admirable, I'd do the same in your shoes, in this case, had they delayed any more than they had the lot of us, children included, would've been a bloody pool of body parts in front of Vallaki's gates."
"She's right," says Emre. "We didn't cause any trouble at all, but rather rescued these young ones from a hag coven—which we destroyed—and were bringing them back home. What's with the gate guard's careless attitude?"
Lucian and Myrtle walk over to Ireena and begin exchanging words in whispers to each other.
"There's no reason to be sly, now is there?" Thpas meanders over to Ireena. "Where I am from, I was told that secrets don't make friends....friends make secrets!" He smiles at Ireena and ruffles the hair on Lucian's crown. "Since we took you away from those nasty old witches, I'd think we were pretty good friends to have, wouldn't you say?" Thpas smiles again, even more brightly. "So, tell me...." he whispers "What mysterious truths are we sharing today?"

Ireena says, "We are speaking quietly only to not draw some people's attention." she says, looking at Izek. "He looks at me weird."

"The guards have no faults!" Says Izek, raising his voice and glaring. "The wolves were chasing you because you were carelessly wandering through the woods at night. The guards thought you may have been bitten." when hearing Valanthe's last comment, he says "Your reasoning is invalid. The werewolves never leave behind bodies. They eat them." Izek then concludes, "You are troublemakers. You must be watched closely. I will report you to Baron Vargas Vallakovich, the burgomaster." he leaves the table he was standing at. He then walks up to where you sit, and uncovers his left arm.
You look in surprise at the deformed limb. It is beyond reasoning how such an arm could be part of a human body. The skin is rough and scaly, colored in a crimson red hue, studded in spikes. His fingers end in long, gnarled claws.
Izek digs his claws into your table. "I am Izek Stranzi. Vargas is my master. If I hear of any more trouble from you, you must answer to me!"
