Description
CR 1/4 : DCR 1/4 - OCR 1/4
Kakunas are cocoon-like creatures, and the chrysalis forms of weedles. A kakuna has a dome-shaped head and black, triangular eyes with glowing white pupils. It has two scythe-like arms in the middle of its body, which are usually kept folded close as it remains immobile, gathered in groups on dark branches, waiting for their metamorphosis to finish while their adult beedrill forms protects them.
For a cocoon, they are surprisingly mobile, being able to waddle around very slowly, spit strands of silk like their younger selves, and spring their developing limbs ending with poisonous stingers at a nearby foe, all at a great energy cost.

Hooks (1d4) :
- The party finds a lone kakuna at the foot of a fallen tree. It remains motionless and defensless. If the party takes it with them, it will eventually grow up into a beedrill that may be friendly.
- Weedles are multiplying in dangerous numbers in the nearby forest, they and kakunas need to be found and culled before they turn into their adult form and become an actual local threat.
- The local weedle population, as well as kakuna, primary food sources for many creatures, has been greatly reduced recently, throwing the local ecosystem's balance into peril. Whatever, or whoever, is causing this must be found and stopped, lest hungry monsters come closer to town to feed.
- A local zoologist hires the party to transport an unusual kakuna with bright green hues to a nearby village, where a colleague can inspect it.
