With Dragon Delves and the Maps VTT, transforming a blank map into a molten lair full of danger is as easy as dragging and dropping.

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to take a map from The Forbidden Vale adventure in Dragon Delves and turn the heat to 11 for ultimate action using stickers in the Maps VTT!

Step 1: Sprinkle in Environmental Hazards

Let's give your players' characters something extra to worry about, besides the dragon itself. We'll drop in a couple of calderas full of lava that will be sure to crank up the heat.

According to the Improvising Damage table in the Dungeon Master's Guide, wading through lava deals 10d10 Fire damage, so it'll be best for the characters to avoid these if possible.

On the other hand, the Young Red Dragon has an Immunity to Fire damage, so it can use these spots to protect itself from melee attackers!

Step 2: Stock the Treasure Hoard

A dragon's only as good as its hoard, so let's give them something worth defending. We'll add in the gold pile sticker from the Dragon Lairs Map Pack that comes with the Dragon Delves Ultimate Bundle.

If this pile of shiny treasure doesn't immediately catch the party's attention, nothing will!

Step 3: Throw a Wrench in Your Party's Plans

What's worse than an angry red dragon? An angry red dragon protecting her eggs. Toss a few dragon egg stickers from the Dragon Lairs Map Pack into the lair to raise the stakes—and maybe stir up a moral dilemma or two.

Will these eggs hatch into Red Dragon Wyrmlings mid-combat? Can the party convince the dragon to stand down to save her young?

Step 4: Add Tokens and Roll for Initiative!

With a couple of clicks, the stage is set and ready for action. Will your party stage an epic showdown, or will they choose to tiptoe across the cavern floor as the dragon slumbers on her mountain of treasure?

Load, Decorate, Roll for Initiative

And there you have it! A ready-to-run dragon's lair full of interesting environmental factors in just a few minutes! With the Dragon Delves Ultimate Bundle and the Maps VTT, Master Tier subscribers can create unforgettable encounters in the time it takes your players to decide who has to go first into the dragon's den.

So let your imagination run wild—and let your players face the consequences.
