It's game night. You've got players. You've got snacks. But you didn't have time to prepare an adventure, choose monster stat blocks, or create battlemaps.
That's where Dragon Delves—and D&D's Maps VTT—come in.
With new Quickplay maps included in Dragon Delves, Master Tier subscribers can load play-ready maps in the Maps VTT with a couple of clicks. That means fog of war and monster placement are already set up. All that's left is to invite your players and start rolling.
Ready to Play Adventures in a Few Clicks
Dragon Delves comes equipped with 18 quickplay maps, from dangerous dungeons and icy lairs to corrupted groves and candy cottages. When you open one of these maps in the Maps VTT, you'll see:
- Pre-placed monster tokens—including named NPCs—that reference creature stat blocks
- Fog of war to control what your players' characters can see
- Built-in grid scaling for movement and area effects
- A battle-ready canvas that you can customize with stickers, overlays, and more monster tokens
These maps let you skip the setup and jump straight into the action, so you don't have to skip a beat when you tell your players, "Roll for Initiative!"
A Trove of Play-Ready Adventures at Your Fingertips
Every Dungeon Master has had that moment. One of your players says, "I want to stop at this rustic forest village we're passing through!" And now all eyes are on you.
When your players take an unexpected turn, you don't need to scramble. With Dragon Delves and quickplay maps, you'll have ready-to-run adventures that you can drop into your session with minimal prep. They're great for filling out a night's adventure, running a spontaneous side quest, or adding weight to a story beat you didn't see coming. Just load the map and keep the session moving.
How to Get Ready to Run 'Death at Sunset' in Five Minutes
Whether you're filling in for your group's regular DM, trying out DMing for the first time, or adding a side quest to an ongoing campaign, the modular adventures in Dragon Delves handle the prep work so you can focus on the fun. Each adventure stands alone and takes place in a flexible environment, so it can be tailored to match your table's story.
Death at Sunset takes place in a heavily forested region, so whether the characters are wandering to their next destination or escorting a caravan through a dangerous stretch of wilderness, it'll work as a low-level story beat for your session.
Step 1. Read the Quick Start Guide

Want to dive into the action without poring over every page beforehand? Each chapter of Dragon Delves opens with a preparation page, giving DMs everything they need to run the adventure smoothly with minimal prep:
- Key Plot Points. You don't need to memorize a novel's worth of lore to run these adventures. Each one opens with a story-first overview that highlights what's wrong, what's at stake, and who's in trouble.
- Key NPCs. Every adventure provides a table of NPCs that matter most—who they are, what they want, and where the characters will find them.
- Prep Steps. Each prep page walks you through what to read, which NPCs to know, and what monster stat blocks to have at your fingertips. You'll also find quick-start tips, like where to begin the story depending on your group's level.
Once you're finished the prep steps, you'll have all the information you need to jump into the adventure.
Step 2. Spin Up Your Maps
With a Master Tier subscription, you can harness the power of quickplay maps to make your prep even easier! Simply head over to the Maps VTT and pull up Dragon Delves in the Map Browser. From there, click the "+" button beside the player versions of the maps that come with the adventure—Red Wood Grove and Death at Sunset's Lair—and select the "Quickplay" option.
You'll be met with a fully stocked map full of hidden monster tokens that's concealed by fog of war. All you need to do is add the characters' tokens to the starting area—the area without any fog of war—and, voilà! You have everything set for tactical combat and exploration!
Step 3. Invite Your Players
Once the map is loaded and the story is in your head, all that's left is gathering your party. Just share the link to your Maps session and start the adventure!

Start Your Adventure With Less Prep
With Dragon Delves and the official Maps VTT, you don't need hours of prep time to create a story, map a battlemap, and stock it with monsters. Just click, load, and let the story unfold.
Start your journey today with a Master Tier subscription and see just how easily Maps can help you bring your adventure to life at your table.

Now that is something. Is this also coming to the older releases, like candlekeep mysteries, keys from the golden vault, etc? Would be awesome and honestly I was kind of expecting that to be the case when I bought keys from the golden vault
It will also be possible to create or save maps as "quickplay" maps?
I'm a Master Tier subscriber with earlier access to Dragon Delves. Dragon Delves isn't available in the Maps VTT, in Quick Maps or otherwise.
It is now.
I hope you update the color versions of the maps with Quickplay too.
This is AWESOME! I love all of the features you’ve been adding to maps. They make my DM setup time so minimal that running is a snap. This new feature makes that even better. Thanks so much!!!
Playing the game luckily is a bit more than moving tokens and rolling dice
This
Can someone without master tier access maps if i with master tier am in the campagne just like i can share my material?
YAAAAASSSSS!!! PLEASE tell me you will be doing this to ALL of the books?!?!
+1 on this. If the only advantage to owning the adventure on D&DBeyond is the ease of getting the maps onto Maps, then I don't really see much benefit as I can just run it from my paper book.
We need an AI model that can do this for ANYTHING. A model where the DM simply requests exactly what they need, ie a “jungle based battle map with 8 zombies and a zombie bugbear (or random monsters with CR whatever appropriate to the setting), etc”. Then the system creates it. THAT would be impressive. This is a good start, though.
I agree, and while I generally am wary of using AI for certain things, this would be an instance where I think it would excel and be awesome! I spend so much time making stuff, and while it is enjoyable, I get lonely doing it all by myself as the DM. I spend weeks, months on prep, it would be nice to have something to speed up the mundane, and AI I think has a place in what you were talking about.
I think it might be a little counter intuitive if we added AI to something like making maps, writing campaigns, things that require your own creativity and hard work, but adding it to the basic task of placing tokens and creating set ups off of already made maps, that would be awesome!

Amazing!
And, now that we know this is possible, how long until:
1. we see this in other books that are released on DNDBeyond; and
2. we can build and populate our own quickplay maps as well;
Now that I know the tech is available, I'm excited by the potential to expand this to other scenarios like the ones I mentioned above. Keep up the good work and keep these goodies coming!
Thought the same when I bought Tales from the Yawning Portal. It's why I stopped paying Master Tier. Just didn't think the subscription was worth it when buying adventure books.
This is amazing!! Maps is becoming so cool. More updates like this!
It is now. At least for me.
Will this be retroactive with previous purchased adventures?
Will this become the norm for new published adventure?
Will we be able to create our own quick play map?
