Spring is here, and we're celebrating with a sale! All sourcebooks and adventure books in our marketplace are 25% off. (Bundles are excluded.) You won't need to roll a Persuasion check to snag this offer, either. The discount has already been applied in-store, with a minimum $1.99 purchase required. So, now is the perfect time to preorder your copy of Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, whether you're a DM hoping to unleash unspeakable horrors at your table or a player itching to explore new character options, like the College of Spirits bard and Undead warlock!
Act quick, though: This sale ends May 2, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PT! Happy dice-rolling!
You know, this is actually a good point. A fourth-tier subscription, that gave (1) the same benefits as the current-highest-tier subscription, plus (2) access to ALL material you've yet to buy, including all future material, at least until the subscription runs out... would probably be an excellent new product for D&D Beyond to promote.
In fact, if priced fairly, (and maybe with a few more enticing perks, such as an extra couple campaigns, etc.) they'd probably make far more on subscriptions to it than on trying to sell all the digital books they have separately. (Sure, they're each a one-time purchase, but it's not like you get a downloadable .pdf to keep forever.) I would seriously consider upping my subscription level for that.
(Of course, I'd then have to needle them yet again: why aren't you allowing pre-paid debit cards for subscriptions?)
Currently, the discount doesn't appear in the app. Mobile users will need to navigate to the site using their browser app. Sorry for the inconvenience!
NO, NOT SEATAUR! He was a national treasure of puns, why did it not kill Dave instead!?
Does Wizard not give you a Beyond code for the book when you buy it now? I got mine for Icespire
Email their customer support! Twice I've bought things the day before a sale and been partially refunded!
Icespire is the only adventure that gives a DDB code. It would be nice if others included codes as well though.
Why doesn't this apply to bundles?
WHAYYYYYYYY?
Yeah, I mean, geez! When I buy a hardback physical book from the store I have to buy it again when it comes out in paperback! Then they make me pay a third time so I can read it on my kindle. Then, just last week, I had to pay for the same book yet again for the audio version! When they come out with a special edition printing, it probably won't be discounted at all!
Why don't books have a code that allow me to get copies in every format I could possibly want, for every past and future printing? I can't believe these corporate publishers are forcing me to pay for the same content over and over again.
I am very disappointed by this sale. 😟 Guess I'm giving up on DDB. I'll come back once they implement book codes.
Was excited for Van Richten's and pre-ordered it back in February when it was announced. Now it is on sale and reduced along with the rest. Will there be a refund for those customers or extra perks for pre-ordering before the sale?
Email them. You might get a partial refund.
I agree. This has left me very disappointed :(
Agreed! It shouldn’t be a choice between taking four hours to transcribe character information or having extremely limited content
YES THIS
The app is honestly pointless now, if you don’t implement book codes, the only reason to own both the app and the books is the weekly articles, which, might I point out, you haven’t posted for weeks. I don’t mean to be the demanding consumer, but cmon people, there has to be some solution?
You don't though. You are welcome to spend the $25 worth of time inputting all of the sourcebook data into your D&D Beyond account as homebrew to use freely in your campaigns, and shareable with your campaign members without a subscription.
What's ludicrous is the continued complaints of people who think that because they bought books from one company (WoTC) that they are entitled to free labour and digital usage from another. When you buy a book from D&D Beyond, you arent buying the book. You're buying to have the contents of that book coded and catalogued so that you can use that data in the app. As above, you are more than welcome (and previously encouraged by D&D Beyond to do so) to put your source books data into homebrews if you dont want to buy the books. Absolutely nothing stopping you, except the ridiculous amount of time and energy it would take to do so at which point you realise that $25 per book is a remarkably good option.
Entitled much?
WHY ARE BUNDLES NOT INCLUDED?
On facebook they were telling people to contact customer services for a potential refund of the difference.
Ill check it out. Thanks!
