Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Master Combatant focus completely on honing their skills in their martial arts training to a razor's edge. These monks are the fiercest of fighters and excel in battle through sheer training and unrivaled brutality. Members of this style of monastery, covet raw strength and flawless techniques above all else.

Martial Arts Mastery

Starting when you choose this tradition at third level, your capabilities in the ways of martial arts become unrivaled. You gain the following benefits:

  • Your martial arts damage die now becomes a d6 and continues to increase when you gain further levels in Monk. At 6th level it becomes a d8, at 11th level it becomes a d10, and at 15th level it becomes a d12.
  • Whenever you make an unarmed strike, you can have the damage type become piercing or slashing instead of bludgeoning.
  • When you use flurry of blows, you now make three unarmed strikes instead of two. At 11th level you can make four unarmed strikes, when you use your flurry of blows.

Unbreakable Body

At 3rd level, you have pushed your body to the limits and have achieved peak physical perfection. You can use your Constitution or Strength modifier in place of Wisdom or Dexterity for your unarmed defense feature.

Additionally, you gain a +6 bonus to your hit point maximum and it increases by 2 whenever you gain a level in this class.

Brutal Opponent

Starting at 6th levels, you learn to take impossibly strong blows and return them in kind. You gain the following benefits.

Tempered Form. Whenever you finish a short or long rest, you gain temporary hit points equal to your monk level + your Strength or Constitution modifier.

Retributive Strike. When a creature attempts to attack you or an ally within 30 feet of you that you can see, you can use your reaction to target the attacking creature. You can then immediately move up to half your movement speed towards the creature and make an unarmed strike against them. You can also spend 1 ki point to give yourself advantage on this attack roll.

Impenetrable physique

Beginning at 11th level, through extensive training you can now harden your body like steel on command. You gain the following features.

  • As a bonus action, you can become resistant to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage until the end of your next turn. When you use this feature, you can spend 2 ki points to extend the duration to 1 minute instead.
  • When you take damage you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 2 rolls of your martial arts die. When you use this feature, you can spend up to 3 ki points and roll a number of extra martial arts damage die equal to the ki points expended.

You can use either feature a number of times, equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all expended uses on a long rest.

Undefeated Champion

By 17th level, you become even more ferocious and savage the closer you come to death. When you are reduced to half your hit point maximum or below, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your unarmed strikes ignore resistance to both magical and nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
  • Your unarmed strikes score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
  • When you take the attack action you can spend 1 to 3 ki points to make a number of extra unarmed strikes equal to the amount of ki points you expended.
