Base Class: Monk
The Martial and Mystic arts are but two sides of the same coin. Martial artists focus on empowering their internalised ki to harden the body, adapting to new environments, whereas Mystic artists nurture and externalise their ki altering the world around them. Traditionalists of the Mystic Eye have been known to tattoo arcane sigils upon their body, to assist directing the flow of their ki. Old Masters of the Way have been known to take upon vows of silence in order to truly nourish their well-spring of ki.
Spellcasting
When you reach 3rd level, you augment your martial prowess with the ability to cast spells using your ki. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the wizard spell list. To cast one of these spells, you use its casting time and other rules, but you don’t need to provide material components for it, unless it has a specified cost. In order to cast the spell, you consume a number of ki points equal to the spell's level plus 1.
Once you reach 6th level in this class, you can spend additional ki points to increase the level of a spell that you cast, provided that the spell has an enhanced effect at a higher level. The spell’s level increases by 1 for each additional ki point you spend.
The maximum number of ki points you can spend to cast a spell in this way (including its base ki point cost and any additional ki points you spend to increase its level) is determined by your monk level, as shown in the Spell and Ki Points table.
Cantrips
You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn an additional wizard cantrip of your choice at 11th and 17th level.
Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher
You know three 1st-level wizard spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the divination and transmutation spells on the wizard spell list. You repeat this process at 6th level for 2nd-level spells, 11th level for 3rd-level spells and 17th level for 4th-level spells.
Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you can cast with ki and must be a divination or transmutation spell.
Spellcasting Ability
Despite drawing your spells from the wizard spell list, you harness your internal ki to weave your magic. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for known wizards spells and you utilise your Ki Save DC for spells that subject a creature to saving throws.
Mystic Eye
Additionally at 3rd level, your mysticism manifests on your physical body, in one or both of your eyes, or an arcane tattoo upon your body. Your Mystic Eye has a number of ki-infused pupils equal to twice your proficiency bonus. You can choose to absorb a number of these ki-infused pupils in place of spending ki to cast a spell. Once you absorb the ki from a pupil, it is unavailable to you until you finish a long rest.
Additionally, your Mystic Eye psychically enhances your physical blows. Your unarmed strikes gain a magical reach equal to your unarmored movement bonus and you can choose to replace the damage type dealt by your unarmed strikes with psychic.
Astral Sentinel
Additionally at 3rd level, you've gained the ability to separate your astral self from your physical body. While you sleep, you can project your astral self into the physical world, performing light duties such as reading and keeping watch, without interrupting a long rest. Your astral self is invisible and must stay within 30 feet of your physical body or it disperses. You cannot cast spells while using this feature.
Ki Resurgence
From 6th level, you've unlocked the secret of restoring ki. When you spend a ki point to use your Flurry of Blows, Step of the Wind or Patient Defence features, roll your Martial Arts die. If you roll a six or higher, you recover the expended ki point.
Martial Mysticism
When you reach 11th level, your Martial Arts ki features are enhanced.
- When you use your Patient Defence feature, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical attacks until the start of your next turn.
- Your Step of the Wind feature now allows you to teleport a distance you can see, equal to your unarmored movement bonus.
- When you score a critical hit against a creature subjected to your Flurry of Blows, you can make a Stunning Strike without expending a ki point.
Awaken the Mind
You have attained a mystic awakening and can sense the ki within others and your environment. From 17th level you gain blindsight equal to a range of 30 feet.
Once per long rest, you can use a bonus action to empower your ki, converting this sense to Truesight for 10 minutes. While this effect is active, you can cast <spell>Telekinesis</spell> and <spell>Telepathic Bond</spell> without expending any ki points and your spells can be cast without verbal and somatic components.
