Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

In an effort to combat the decline of Moonblades in the elven societies, the elves developed an artificial version that could be more easily produced. With enough training and the proper aptitude, wielders of what would be dubbed crescent blades can potentially replicate the power of true moonblades. To uphold elven ideals and protect their people is a moonblade warrior's greatest honor.

Restriction: Elves Only

Only elves and half-elves can be Moonblade Warriors. Do to the secular nature of elven people, it is considered taboo and often illegal to teach non-elf races of this sacred art.

Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign.

Moonblade Warrior Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Gloom Stalker Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know.

9th tidal wave
13th dominate beast

Crescent Blade Expert

At 3rd level, your extensive training finally allows you to wield a crescent blade to its fullest potential. You can also channel some of your elven magic into the blade, giving you the ability to, as a bonus action, cause the blade to glow in a pale light. The blade radiates dim light in a 30 ft radius around it until you either let go of the blade or turn the light off as a bonus action.

Finally, you can also now see in dim light as if it were bright light.

Some abilities in this subclass require the use of a crescent blade. For such abilities, a crescent blade of any quality can be used. Alternatively, if you are able to attune to a genuine moonblade as its inheritor, you can use it to activate any abilities granted by this subclass.

Crescent Blade

A crescent blade is a unique elvevn made longsword. The blade stretches out in a softly arcing crescent moon shape, and the pale white color of the ore used to make it makes it seem to almost glow on its own. Without the crescent blade expert feature, the weapon functions as a normal long sword.

Crescent Cleave

At 3rd level, your expertise with a crescent blade has made you a far more potent fighter, allowing you to dispatch multiple creatures with a single slash. On your turn, when you hit a creature with a melee attack from a crescent blade you can use your bonus action to deal damage to up to two other creatures. The damage is equal to the weapon damage you dealt to the original target, and you can only hit creatures that are adjacent to each other and within 5 ft of you.

Moon Goddess' Guidance

By 7th level, your natural resistance to charms has been bolstered by the protection of your goddess. You are now immune to the charmed condition.

Lunar Radiance

At 11th level, you learn to evoke greater bursts of lunar energy. As an action, you can cause a crescent blade you are wielding to flare with the radiant light of the moon. When you do, all creatures within 15 ft of you must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell DC. All creatures caught in the flare are afflicted with a lunar brand, causing the first attack made against them to be made with advantage. If a creature fails the saving throw they are also blinded. Both the blind and the lunar brand last for up to 1 min. Blinded creatures can make a Constitution saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect early with a successful save. If this ability is used while under the light of the moon, the radius is increased to 25 ft. Additionally, all branded creatures suffer radiant damage when the brand is consumed. The extra damage is equal to half your ranger level rounded down.

You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1), regaining all expended uses after finishing a long rest.

Dark Side of the Moon

Starting at 15th level, with a flourish of your blade you can mimic an image of the moon distracting enough to hide behind. As a bonus action, you can flourish and illuminate a crescent blade you are wielding, allowing you to lurk in its shadow. Until the start of your next turn, you can use your reaction to attempt to reposte an attack made against you or a creature standing within 5 ft of you. As part of the counter attempt, make a melee attack roll. If you roll higher than or equal to the attack, it is blocked and if the attacker is within your melee attack range you can roll damage as if you had made an attack against them. If you rolled lower, you can still roll your weapon damage die and decrease the damage taken by the amount rolled.
