Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Warriors are known throughout the realms for tenacity, and the ability to fight until their dying breath. There are some, however, who continue to fight long after the air has left their lungs and their heart has ceased it's beating. Such warriors, the greatest threat to archaeologists and grave robbers alike, have been known as Revenants, Draugr, Zombie, and many more titles throughout the ages.

A Draugr's rage persists past physical decay, tethering them to the physical realm for as long as their spirit has a reason to lift it's sword. Inspired by ancient ceremonies that enchanted corpses with the power to reanimate indefinitely, a Draugr Barbarian is a fierce and unrelenting opponent, held together by magic, and driven by pure emotion.

Draugr's Blessing

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, the enchantments from which you draw your gifts permanently alter your physical state.

  • You are immune to disease, and resistant to poison damage
  • You don't need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. You can gain the benefits of a long rest by performing light activity for at least 4 hours.

Unearthly Reflexes

Also at 3rd level, your attacks and defenses are both driven by pure instinct, allowing you to attack with all your might without sacrificing your guard.

  • Up to a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, you can use your Reckless Attack feature without opponents gaining advantage on attack rolls against you as a result of that feature. You regain expended uses after a long rest.

Affinity of the Spirit

At 6th level, the passion that drives you helps you to better understand the motivations of others, and other restless spirits find it easier to communicate with you.

  • You gain proficiency in Insight if you do not already have it, and your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with it. This does not stack with any other feature that doubles your proficiency bonus with insight, such as Expertise.
  • You have advantage on Religion or Arcana checks made to recall information about Undead.
  • You can cast Speak with Dead once per short rest without using a spell slot. When you cast this spell, the target recognizes you as friendly, unless you explicitly proved yourself an enemy when it was alive.

Haunting Evolution

At 10th level, your body and soul take on the aspects of powerful undead creatures as your single-minded desire for victory empowers you.

  • You have advantage on death saving throws.
  • When you get a critical hit with a weapon attack, you can choose for the attack's damage to manifest as necrotic instead of the damage type normal for the weapon.
  • During your rage, you are considered Undead rather than Humanoid. While the rage persists, you are resistant to necrotic damage and immune to effects that would make you charmed or frightened. If you are charmed or frightened when you enter your rage, you have advantage on saving throws made to end these effects on yourself.

The Ceaseless Body

At 14th level, you have fully embraced the power of the deathless ones, able to keep fighting even as your body breaks down and withers.

  • Your Relentless Rage feature's saving throw DC only increases by 2 per use, to a maximum of 16.
  • In addition, the first time you are dropped to 0 HP and would be killed outright due to the damage taken, your Relentless Rage feature still revives you with 1 HP.
  • Your HP maximum cannot be reduced to 0 in any way while you are raging.
