Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Stone Dragon believe in centering themselves and becoming immovable like the mountains. These warriors learn to trade off their speed and agility for defense and control, shrugging off and immobilizing attackers.

Stone Foot Stance

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to focus your weight and shift your stance to harness the resilience of the earth. Whenever you roll initiative you may automatically enter the Stonefoot Stance, otherwise you may use a bonus action to enter it. You may choose to exit the stance at the beginning of your turn.

When you are in Stonefoot Stance you lose any bonus speed granted from your unarmored movement feature, you must spend 10 feet of movement for every 5 feet you move, and and gain the following benefits:

  • Instead of its normal benefits, your Unarmored Defense feature now grants you AC equal to 10 + your wisdom modifier + your constitution modifier.
  • You gain advantage on Strength and Constitution saving throws and checks.
  • While you are not wearing armor, bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage that you take from non-magical weapons is reduced by 2. This damage reduction increases by 1 at 6th level (3), 10th level (4), 14th level (5) and 18th level (6).

Weight of the Mountain

At 6th level, you are able to overpower and weigh down foes with ease. While in Stonefoot Stance, you may replace any unarmed strikes granted by your Martial Arts or Flurry of Blows features with the grapple or shove action. Furthermore, whenever you successfully stun an enemy with your Stunning Strike feature you can choose to automatically knock them prone.

Mountain Hammer

At 11th level, by centering your body and focusing your strikes, you learn to break through even the toughest of defenses.

As an action on your turn, you can expend 2 ki point to make a single powerful unarmed strike against a creature. Instead of rolling to attack as normal, you force the target of your attack to make a dexterity saving throw against your monk save DC and be hit by your unarmed strike on a failed save. In addition to being hit, the target gains vulnerability to damage from this strike.

This action counts as an attack action for use of your Martial Arts and Flurry of Blows features.

EarthStrike Quake

When you reach 17th level, you are able to strike the earth sending out fissures along the ground and toppling your enemies. Whenever you could take the attack action or make an unarmed strike, you can instead spend a ki point to strike the ground forcing a creature of your choice that shares a surface with and is within 30 feet of you to make a dexterity save, and on a failed save take damage as though it was hit by your unarmed strike and is knocked prone.
