Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

The Order of the Night Stalker is the most secretive of the orders, being seen as monstrous even to some other Blood Hunters. It was originally formed by a Vampire Lord that sought to repent for the damage they had done to their once human kin. They learned to pass on some of their curse’s effects without forcing undeath or requiring blood for sustenance. Once this new breed of hunters were perfected they set about using this “family” to destroy every vampire that threatens mortal life.

Night Stalker

Upon choosing this archetype at 3rd level, you gain a limited form of the vampirism curse. Your creature type remains humanoid, but you gain the following features:

Vampirism. Your canines grow into fangs and you can extend hardened fingernails to serve as claws. These are natural weapons for you, have the finesse property, and each can be a target of your Crimson Rite feature. These weapons deal damage equal to your hemocraft die. Your bite deals piercing damage and your claws deal slashing damage.

Superior Darkvision. You gain darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.

Sunlight Sensitivity. You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.

Vampiric Gaze

Starting at 7th level, you can use a bonus action to lock eyes with a creature that can see you. For 1 minute or until your concentration is lost, you have advantage on all Charisma checks directed at the creature and the creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses when you complete a long rest.

Shapechanger

Starting at 11th level, you gain the ability to shift your form into that of a tiny bat. Whenever you aren’t in direct sunlight, you can use a bonus action to polymorph into a bat or back into your true form. While you are in bat form, your AC, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores remains the same. You revert back into your true form anytime you end your turn in direct sunlight.

Additionally, you can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Lifedrinker

Starting at 15th level, you can empower your bite further with blood magic. Your bite attacks are always considered under the effects of Rite of the Dead, and once per turn when you bite a creature you can choose to deal additional necrotic damage to them equal to ½ your blood hunter level.

Additionally, when a bite attack critically hits or kills a creature with blood, you regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage done.

Longevity

Starting at 18th level, when you start your turn, you regain hit points equal to 1 + your Constitution modifier (minimum of one) if you have at least 1 hit point and aren’t in direct sunlight.

Additionally, your curse causes you to age more slowly. For every 10 years that pass, your body only ages 1 year.

Vampire Lord

Upon reaching 18th level, your mastery over your curse grants you the ability to sense the life force of creatures around you for a limited time. You gain the Blood Curse of the Predator for your Blood Maledict feature. This does not count against your number of blood curses known.

Blood Curse of the Predator

As a bonus action, you can empower your perception allowing you to see and hear the circulatory systems of creatures within 60 feet of you until the end of your next turn. This grants you the following benefits:

  • You are aware of the location of any creature with blood within this area provided they aren’t behind total cover, and you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks to find hidden creatures.
  • If a creature with blood is invisible or masked by an illusion in this area, it becomes visible to you immediately.

Amplify. This curse lasts for 1 minute.
