Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Some rangers delve too far into the Underdark, some have an unlikely encounter deep within an enchanted forest, and some just eat really questionable stew. However the spores made their way into their body, they’ve changed you forever now. Some spore infused rangers show obvious changes, such as their own body sprouting mushrooms or their very skin becoming more like the fungus than flesh, while others are much more subtle about it- perhaps little more than a hazy cloud of spores surrounding their head as they go about their business. Whatever the physical appearance, their abilities are certainly shaped by the change.

Spore Strikes

3rd-level Spore Infused feature

At 3rd level, You can cause deadly spores to cling to your weapons. When you hit a creature with a weapon, you can deal an extra 1d4 necrotic damage to the target, which can take this extra damage only once per turn.

The extra damage increases to 1d6 when you reach 11th level in this class.

Rapport Spores

3rd-level Spore Infused feature

At 3rd level, as an action, you may cause spores to extend from yourself in a 30 foot radius. Choose a number of creatures within that radius, up to a number of creatures equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). While within 120 feet of each other, those creatures and yourself may speak telepathically with each other, but a creature is only able to understand and be understood if it speaks at least one language. This effect lasts for 1 hour or until you end it early as an action.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier.

Fungal Form

7th-level Spore Infused feature

At 7th level, the spores that infuse your body have bonded with you more than ever before, creating an even stronger symbiotic link that aids not only you, but can aid your allies as well.

You have resistance to poison and necrotic damage and advantage on saving throws against poison.

You may also extend this protection to your allies. Whenever a creature within 30 feet of you would take poison or necrotic damage or make a saving throw against the poisoned condition, you may use your reaction to grant that creature resistance to poison and necrotic damage and advantage on saving throws against poison until the start of your next turn.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) and regain all uses after a long rest.

You may also speak to mushrooms at will, as if under the effects of the Speak to Plants spell.

Special Spores

11th-level Spore Infused feature

At 11th level, after spending so long with the spores shaping your body, you’ve learned how to shape them to your will as well, allowing you to change the spores you’ve been using for so long in new ways.

Whenever you take the attack action, you may replace one of your attacks with a special expulsion of spores, choosing one of the options below:

- You hurl a cloud of poisonous spores at a point within 30. Each creature within 10 feet of that point must succeed a Constitution saving throw against your spell DC or become poisoned until the end of the creature’s next turn.

- You hurl a cloud of deadly spores at a point within 30 feet. Each creature within 10 feet of that point must succeed a constitution saving throw against your spell DC or take 3d6 necrotic damage. This damage increases to 4d6 at 17th level.

- You create a cloud of protective spores within 30 feet. A 10 foot radius cloud of spores expands from that point and remains there for one minute or until you create another such cloud of spores. The cloud of spores has 10 hit points. Whenever a creature in your cloud takes damage, you may choose to have the cloud take the damage instead. If more than one creature would take damage simultaneously, you choose which one the cloud takes damage for first. When the cloud is reduced to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over. The cloud’s hit points are increased to 15 at 17th level.

For example, if two creatures you choose to protect within your cloud while it has 10 hit points would take 7 points of fire damage each from a casting of burning hands, you may choose to have the cloud take 7 points of damage from one creature, causing that creature to take no damage, and 3 points of damage from the other creature which will take the excess 4 damage.

Greater Fungal Form

15th level Spore Infused feature

At 15th level, you are one with the spores. Your body has accepted them fully, you are not as you once were.

You are immune to poison and necrotic damage and the poisoned condition, as well as disease. Whenever you use your Fungal Form reaction, you instead grant immunity to poison and necrotic damage and the poisoned condition.

Additionally, You can cast the Tree Stride spell, requiring no spell slot, and you must finish a long rest before you can cast it this way again. When you cast the spell this way, you may only enter, locate, and appear from mushrooms or mushroom patches instead of trees.
