Monk
Base Class: Monk

For ages monks from all walks of life have dedicated their lives to monastic traditions, honing their skills an deepening their spiritual connections. But still others choose a different path, not one of pugilism or servitude, but one of elegance and power. Monks that follow the Way of the Weave utilize their fine motor skills to manipulate the very fabric of magic itself.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the sorcerer spell list.

Cantrips

You learn three cantrips: mage hand and two other cantrips of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. You learn another sorcerer cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Way of the Weave Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your sorcerer spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell catapult and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast catapult using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level sorcerer spells of your choice, all of which must require somatic components.

The Spells Known column of the Way of the Weave Spellcasting table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must require somatic components, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level do not have to require somatic components.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the sorcerer spells you know with another spell of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and must require somatic components, unless you’re replacing the spell you gained at 8th, 14th, or 20th level.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells, since you cast your spells with a deeply-rooted commitment and understanding. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Ki-Fueled Spells

Also at 3rd level, you can channel your ki to fuel basic spells. As an action, rather than expending a spell slot, you can spend 1 ki point to cast a spell at 1st level. You can use this feature a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Woven Strikes

Starting at 6th level, when you hit with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to cast a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 2 ki points to use this feature again.

Ki-Empowered Spells

Starting at 11th level, you learn to impose your will upon The Weave. When you cast a spell using somatic components, you can spend a number of ki points (up to your proficiency bonus) to roll your martial arts die that many times and increase either the range or damage of the spell equal to the total number rolled. You can use this feature a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

One With The Weave

At 17th level, you have achieved an understanding of The Weave rivaled only by sorcerers and can utilize your ki in ways you never imagined.

Dexterous Casting

You can use your ki points to gain additional spell slots, or sacrifice spell slots to gain additional ki points. You can never have more ki points than shown on the table for your level.

Converting a Spell Slot to Ki Points. As a bonus action on your turn, you can expend one spell slot and gain a number of sorcery points equal to the slot’s level.

Creating Spell Slots. You can transform unexpended ki points into one spell slot as a bonus action on your turn. The Creating Spell Slots table shows the cost of creating a spell slot of a given level. You can create spell slots no higher in level than 4th.

Any spell slot you create with this feature vanishes when you finish a long rest.
