Bard
Base Class: Bard

Time flows inconspicuously in all directions. While many realize the passage of time, very few concern themselves with understanding the abstract nature of temporality. Whether through a quiet moment pondering the nature of their music or through direct effort, College of Tempo bards are individuals who have become aware of the vast nature of time and the power it holds. Because of this, these bards have devoted themselves to developing their bond with this magical force and exerting their will over it, for their own benefit or to sabotage their foes.

Perhaps you joined the College of Tempo to better understand a new aspect of magical musical power, perhaps you're striving to gasp the vastness of time through the medium of art and music, or perhaps you simply stumbled into the realization of temporal magic. Whatever your origin or goals, the College of Tempo offers much to be learned and understood. After all, what is battle if not a dynamic piece of performance art?

Adjusting the Tempo

When you join the College of Tempo at the 3rd level, your eyes are opened to the temporal energy flowing through all living things. As a result, you have begun to tamper with the flow of energy into and out of the creatures around you. You gain the following abilities:

  • Allegro
    • As a bonus action, you may choose to expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to imbue a creature within 30 ft of you with a jolt of energy. This creature may immediately move a number of feet up to 5 times the number rolled. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks

The number of creatures you can affect with this ability increases to 2 at 5th level, 3 at 10th level, 4 at 15th level, and 5 at 20th level.

  • Adagio
    • As a bonus action, you may expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to sap the energy from a creature around you. Choose a creature within 30 ft of you. This creature must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, this creature’s movement is reduced by a number of feet equal to 5 times the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration dice until the end of your next turn.

Shaping the Melody

At 6th level, you begin to deepen your understanding of the flow of time and temporal energy, which gives you greater influence over those around you. You gain access to the spells Slow and Haste, which now count as Bardic spells for you.

Reactionary Inspiration

Additionally at 6th level, your understanding of temporal magic has granted you the ability to more quickly respond to the ever-changing nature of battle. As a result, you can now expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration as a reaction instead of as a bonus action.

One with the Music

At 14th level, you have become a master at conducting the pace of the battle around you. As a result, you gain the following benefits:

  • When you use Allegro, the affected creatures may make one melee weapon attack before moving.
  • When you reduce a creature’s movement speed to 0 with Adagio, they are stunned until the end of your next turn.
