Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

In a time before humans, dwarves and elves, ruled the mighty giants - beings of an enormous size with the strength and resilience to match. Through their magic, strength and cunning, they created mighty kingdoms and impressive civilizations - most of which have been lost to time. They ranked themselves according to a hierarchy referred to as The Ordning, given to them by their patron god - Annam the All-Father, which placed storm giants at the top, down through cloud, fire, frost and stone giants, and ending with the fog giants, hill giants and giant-kin. They were also the creators and first masters of rune carving; the practice of engraving items with arcane runes to bestow them with magical abilities. You’ve pledged yourself to an especially powerful and ancient giant, whose memory may stretch back to the very dawn of the world’s creation.

Creatures that could fulfill this role are beings like Orcan - the ruler of Nímlöt or Bres - the King of the Fomorians.

Runesmith

Beginning at 1st level, your patron teaches you the ancient practice of rune carving. You can read, speak and write Giant, and gain proficiency with Mason's tools.

Titan's Sigil

Also at 1st level, your patron has bestowed you with a special item infused with their power, referred to as a Runic Sigil. Your Runic Sigil can take whatever form you wish, such as an amulet or stone tablet, and is engraved with a personalized Giant rune. If your Runic Sigil breaks, or is otherwise lost, you can beseech your patron for a new one as part of a long rest.

While holding your Runic Sigil, you can use your bonus action to choose an object or point on the ground within 30 feet of you that you can see. The same rune that is engraved on your Runic Sigil is then projected onto the chosen location or object. A projected rune is invisible to everyone but yourself, though a creature with truesight can also see it. A projected rune lasts for up to 8 hours, until you use this feature again, or until you choose to remove it (requires no action by you).

While a location or object bears a projected rune, you gain the following features, provided you and the rune are on the same plane of existence:

  • You know the approximate distance and direction of the rune, and if it is currently moving or not.
  • As an action, you can see and hear through the rune as if you were in its space. You can only see in the direction it’s facing, and only when it’s uncovered. For the duration, you’re considered blinded and deafened in regards to your own senses.
  • While you’re perceiving through the rune, you can speak telepathically to one creature within 30 feet of the rune that you can see. Your telepathic speech is in a language you know, and the creature can only understand you if it knows the same language. This feature does not grant the creature the ability to respond to your telepathic utterances. While speaking with a creature in this way, your projected rune is fully visible to it.

Runic Ward

At 6th level, you’ve learnt how to channel the endurance and fortitude of giants through your runes in order to reduce the damage you take in battle. While your Runic Sigil is on your person, you have a pool of d6s equal to your warlock level, which you use to fuel this damage reduction.

Whenever you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a number of d6s from your pool and reduce the damage taken by the number rolled. The maximum amount of dice you can expend at once equals your Charisma modifier.

You regain all of your expended dice after a long rest.

Oracle of Annam

At 10th level, your patron has shown you how to decipher the signs and omens of Annam the All-Father using your Runic Sigil. While your Runic Sigil is on your person, you can use your reaction whenever you or a creature within 30 feet of you rolls with disadvantage or advantage to choose which of the two rolls is used, no matter which would be higher or lower.

You can use this feature once per short rest.

Eldritch Runesmith

At 14th level, you can use the magical runes you carve in tandem with your eldritch powers. You gain the following features:

Runic Transposition. As part of the same bonus action you use to project a rune using your Runic Sigil, or as a bonus action on subsequent turns, you can teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the rune. After doing so, the projected rune vanishes.

Eldritch Mark. Whenever you cast a warlock spell while you have a projected rune active, you can cast it from the projected rune’s space. To gain this benefit, the spell cannot have a range of Self.
