College of Artifacts

Bards of the College of Artifacts specialize in finding, reaching, learning about, and using all sorts of magical items.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Artifacts at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Knowledge of Artifacts

At 3rd level, you are sensitive to the magic within items and can figure out what that magic is by touch. You know the identify spell, which does not count against the number of your spells known. You do not need a pearl when casting identify. You can not cast the spell on creatures. Additionally, you apply your proficiency bonus to Intelligence checks you make to understand the workings and history of any particular magic item.

Use Magic Device

By 6th level, you have learned enough about the workings of magic that you can improvise the use of items even when they are not intended for you. You ignore all alignment, class, and race requirements on the use of magic items.
