Intrinsically drawn to the open skies above them, students of the Way of the Talon are trained in the use of magic to call upon the creatures that inhabit the world above them.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Animal Handling skill if you don’t already have it. Your connection with the creatures of the sky gains you greater insight into the animal world at large.

Calling of the Songbird

Calling of the Songbird
At 3rd level, you learn to transform yourself into one of the following, once per long rest, for 10 minutes at the cost of 1 Ki points;

  • Canary

Actions
Multiattack. The phoenix makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its fiery talons.
Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d6 + 8) fire damage. If the target is a creature or a flammable object, it ignites. Until a creature takes an action to douse the fire, the target takes 5 (1d10) fire damage at the start of each of its turns.
Fiery Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 8) fire damage.
When the Soul Phoenix drops to 0 HP it goes up in flames and your character dies. However, from the ashes rises another Phoenix who will fight alongside your allies until the battle is finished and then takes off.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d6 + 6) slashing damage.
When the Soul Dragon drops to 0 HP it makes no death saving throws and it is instantly cast in gold where it falls. It then slips into a magical slumber for 100 years, after which the gold will melt off and it will wake and then transform back into yourself exactly as you were.
