Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

An order created by a band of Fallen Aasimar who were touched by darkness due to their fascination, borderline obsession, with blood magic. The godly blood in their veins gives them access to a special curses, brands and rites.

Rite of the Damned

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Damned (detailed below).

Rite of the Damned. Your rite damage is necrotic damage. While the rite is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage for every attack.
  • When you attack and hit with your weapon for the first time during your turn, you deal maximum Crimson Rite damage.

Life Through Blood

Beginning at 3rd level, you grow accustomed to the bite of your blade and learn to be particular with your cuts. You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to half the amount of damage taken in order to Amplify a Blood Curse or to cast a Crimson Rite.

Temporary Hit Points gained in this way can stack. Damage taken from Amplifying a Blood Curse or casting a Crimson Rite is not subtracted from the Temporary Hit Points as part of their costs of casting, instead they always directly affect your hit points. You cannot gain Temporary Hit Points from sources other than this feature while it is active and any healing you receive while you have Temporary Hit Points is halved.

Shadow Step

Upon reaching 7th level, at the start of your turn, if you aren’t incapacitated, you can choose to merge with your shadow and slide across the ground up to 30ft as your movement.

After emerging from your shadow you can make a melee attack against a target as a bonus action. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Brand of Blood Gorging

Beginning at 11th level, your Brand of Castigation now siphons your foe’s life force, healing you while quenching your thirst. Whenever you damage a branded creature with your Crimson Rite, you gain temporary hit points equal to the damage rolled on your hemocraft die.

As an Action, you can choose to end your Brand of Castigation early and if you do, the brand forcibly expels the branded creatures blood from it's open wounds, mouth, ears and eyes dealing necrotic damage equal to your temporary hit points. All your temporary hit points are lost.

Blood Curse of the Toll

At 15th level, your shadow latches onto the shadow of your foes, exerting a heavy toll onto them and punishing them for their step. You gain the Blood Curse of the Toll for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn’t count against your number of blood curses known.

Sanguine Ichor

At 18th level, the godly blood flowing through your veins begins to bolster your blood magic. Your Hemocraft die becomes a 1d12.
