Base Class: Barbarian
The volcano is an awe-inspiring force of nature, oppressive in its presence and overwhelming in its destructive capability. The hot-headed barbarians that follow the Path of the Iron Mountain channel the majesty and violence of these phenomena through their rage, their emotions welling up and overflowing to imitate the awesome power of a volcanic eruption.
Avatar of the Iron Mountain
At 3rd level, your rage connects you to the power and majesty of volcanoes, etching their awe-inspiring power into your soul. When you begin raging, and at the start of each of your turns while you are raging, you gain an Eruption Stage, up to a maximum equal to 1/3 your Barbarian level, rounded down. Your appearance begins to change based off of the number of Eruption Stages you have accumulated, as shown on the Eruption Table, and you lose all Eruption Stages when your rage ends.
| Eruption Stages | Change |
| 1 | Your blood becomes the consistency of lava. |
| 2 | Your hair, eyes, and/or feathers begin to glow red-hot, shedding bright light up to 10 feet. |
| 3 | White ash clings to your hands and feet. |
| 4 | Black smoke billows from your mouth when you exhale. |
| 5 | Your skin carbonizes, becoming like charcoal. |
| 6 | Your creature type becomes Elemental, replacing any other creature type you have. |
Additionally, starting at 10th level, your connection to nature's wrath allows you to focus your power to overcome those that would resist you. Your attacks ignore fire resistance, and treat immunity as if it is resistance.
Hands of Magma
At 3rd level, you have learned to strike with the force of a volcanic eruption. Once per turn while you are raging, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can add a number of d4's equal to your Eruption Stage in fire damage to the damage roll.
Pyroclastic Techniques
At 6th level, you can tap into a fragment of a volcano's power as a bonus action. The power you can draw out depends on your current Eruption Stage. You can use one of the following features if you are at or exceed the required Eruption Stage.
| Stage | Pyroclastic Technique |
| 1-2 | You expel a thick cloud of black smoke, heavily obscuring a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on you. The smoke lasts for 1 minute or until a strong gust of wind blows it away. |
| 3-4 | You rock the foundations of the earth around you. Creatures within 15 feet of you take fire damage equal to your Rage damage bonus, and the affected area becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute. |
| 5-6 | You cover your weapon in hot ash and lava for the next minute. The weapon deals fire damage instead of its regular damage type, and when you hit a creature using your Reckless Attack feature, other creatures within 10 feet of the target take fire damage equal to your Rage bonus. |
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier, and you regain all uses after you finish a long rest. Additionally, you gain resistance to fire damage.
Basalt Stride
Beginning at 10th level, your very steps mimic the aftermath of a lava flow. You can walk over the surface of liquids with no adverse effects, as the liquid hardens to basalt beneath your feet and returns back to normal as you step away.
Coffin of the Iron Mountain
Starting at 14th level, your rage can birth a hole in the earth, from which nature's wrath bursts forth. As an action, you can cause the earth to rupture and form a small volcano around you. Five foot thick earthen walls form a 30-foot-radius dome centered on you, either reaching 60 feet high or stopping at a lower height to accommodate a ceiling. Creatures within this area are trapped within the volcano with you. At the end of your next turn, pressurized magma quickly fills the dome, causing an explosive eruption. Creatures within 30 feet of the volcano must make a Dexterity saving throw {{savedc:con}}, taking 5d12 fire damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. Creatures within the volcano have disadvantage on the saving throw. The volcano disappears after erupting.
You can use this feature once per long rest. Additionally, you gain immunity to fire damage.
