Base Class: Barbarian
A Simple Minded barbarian has learned to reach deep inside to access the dormant instincts of their primal mind. When in combat, raging now allows one to cut down not only their foes, but also thought and unnecessary mental usage. In doing so they are able to reduce reaction times and utilise the user's strength to its fullest... making themselves vulnerable to opponents as a result, however.
Only accessible to those with a combined mental modifier (INT+WIS+CHA) of -3 or lower. Your DM may lift or modify this restriction as they see fit.
Zen Rage
You have learned to turn sheer and steep emotion into a state of pure and balanced joy and anger. While you are raging you may choose to overwhelm your own mind in order to enter a Zen Rage. While in Zen Rage, your proficiency bonus is doubled when calculating the attack bonus for STR weapon attacks and unarmed strikes. While in Zen Rage, you may roll an additional 1d6 when determining STR weapon damage.
Your submission to these emotions and the blankness of your mind does come at a cost, however, as any skill checks or saving throws that rely on mental stats (INT, WIS, CHA) are rolled at disadvantage while you are in Zen Rage.
Fearless Tranquillity
You have mastered control over your natural fight or flight responses. Whenever you're raging you suppress the instinct to fear, becoming immune to the Frightened condition. If you are Frightened when you enter rage, your "clarity" of mind allows you to overcome the effect, dispelling the condition completely.
Combat Fiend/Friend
Your ability to maintain inner balance has further evolved as you start to sink deeper into your primal instincts. You've begun to bypass even more unnecessary thought to cut down your reaction times, allowing you to make a second reaction per round (otherwise following the normal rules of reactions) whilst using the Zen Rage feature.
However, every strength must create a weakness. While focusing on attacking you begin to leave obvious openings that opponents may utilise. For 1 round (from the start of your next turn) your AC is reduced by an amount equal to your STR modifier.
This feature may be used an amount of times a day equal to half your Barbarian Level (rounded down). All expended uses are regained once you finish a Long Rest.
Instilled Xenophobia
The sheer primal unpredictability of your mind and body now radiates from your very being, affecting other creatures. While you are in Zen Rage and an opponent within 5 foot damages you with an attack, you may use a reaction to force that creature to make a WIS saving throw. The DC for this saving throw is equal to 8 + your proficiency modifier + your STR modifier. On a failed save, the creature becomes Frightened until your rage ends.
