Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Several institutes and organisations dedicated to the formal teaching of the arcane exist within the Realms of Ahlus, but not all seek to following such storied conventions. The kingdom of Atralran historically maintained a large population capable of conjuring minor magical tricks, and the current iteration of the region is no different. While most are adept only with so-called Mundane Magic, a few deepen in their relationship with the arcane, learning from experience rather than academic study. While the majority of Folk Magic wielding wizards come from this part of the continent, the practice is starting to spread throughout the Lotus Basin in particular.

Autodidact

Whether still guided by an adroit master that accompanied you on your travels or by means of familial traditions, you have largely independently of formal education developed a deep understanding of magics commonplace and otherwise less complex than others.

Beginning at 2nd level, when you copy a spell into your spellbook, the time taken is halved and the overall gold cost is reduced by 50gp, provided that the spell's level is equal to or less than half of your proficiency bonus.

Mundane Mastery

Minor magical feats are considered paltry to most wizards, but your pursuit of the low magics has gifted you a scope of knowledge greater than many of your peers that instead dedicate themselves to the mights of more exotic spellcasting. At 2nd level, you can learn one cantrip of your choice from any spell list, treating your selection as a wizard spell that does not count towards your total number of Cantrips Known.

You learn an additional cantrip in this way when you reach 6th level, 10th level and 14th level in this class.

Improvisationist

While other wizards find themselves confined by their ability to focus their energy into a few select spells, your unorthodox training route has allowed you to bypass this common limitation. Starting at 6th level, you can cast any spell of 2nd-level or lower from your spellbook, regardless of whether it is prepared or not. The selected spell must have a casting time of 1 action, and expends an appropriate spell slot as normal.

You can cast a spell in this way a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1), regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest. At 10th level, you can cast spells of 3rd-level or lower using this feature, 4th-level or lower at 14th level and 5th-level or lower when you reach 18th level in this class.

Robust and Rugged

The environment outside the classroom can be thwart with dangers and distractions for aspiring acolytes and master magicians alike. As such, you have had extra opportunities to practice maintaining your focus on matters at hand more than some of your more scholarly peers.

From 10th level, when you are forced to make a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell, you can use your reaction to grant yourself a bonus to the roll equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1).

Spell Salvage

Starting at 14th level, you have become increasingly adept at repurposing the arcane energy expended by spells that fail to reach their potential. When you cast a wizard spell of 4th-level or lower and it fails to impose an effect, deal damage to creatures, the environment or objects when cast, you regain one expended spell slot. The expended spell slot must be at least one level lower than the spell cast. If the spell is negated by use of a Legendary Resistance, or the spell was cast at 1st-level, you cannot use this feature.

When you reach 18th level in this class, this ability affects any wizard spells cast at 5th-level or lower.
