Base Class: Blood Hunter
Long ago it was found that some surviving victims of the vampire were left permanently changed by their encounter. One such person led to the formation of the order, combining their cursed vitae with the Hunter's Bane. They are known only as "The Sire" and their true identity remains a mystery lost to time. Members willingly partake in “The Embrace”, a blood ritual in which they become tainted by the vampire, left only partially embraced by the ancient blood of their greatest enemy. Though they are mostly undead, cursed with the same hunger of the monsters they hunt, they are not cursed with immortality. Instead, these dedicated hunters live their lives to end the immortality of these vain monsters. The Sanguine order specializes in social influence and the study of blood magics. This influence allows them to root out the vampires that have infiltrated the ranks of power and eliminate them.
The Hunger:
If you have not fed on blood in the 24 hours and take a long rest, you must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or move directly towards the nearest creature to you and make a bite attack against them. On a success you bite them, causing your hemocraft die in damage and healing yourself for half that amount rounded up (minimum of one). If there is more than one possible target, roll to randomly determine the target. You then regain control for the remainder of your turn.
If you have not fed in the last 24 hours, you lose the ability to use your Magnified Maledict feature and take a level of exhaustion.
Social Hunter
Upon joining the higher ranks of this order at 3rd level you learn to use your vampiric powers to influence others, conferring the following benefits:
You gain proficiency in Persuasion and Deception. You may use your Intelligence modifier instead of Charisma when using these skills.
Additionally, the hypnotic seduction of the hunger has taught you to charm others. As a bonus action you can focus your gaze on an enemy you can see within 60 ft. that can also see you. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier) or be charmed by you for one minute. While charmed in this way the target will not attack you or your allies, or anyone it saw as allies before. Feeding from them does not end the effect, but any other damage suffered does. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Magnified Maledict
At 3rd level your understanding of blood magics is enhanced by the cure coursing through your polluted blood allowing you to amplify your Blood Maledict feature without taking damage a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier. Once exhausted, you recover this ability after a long rest.
Blood Feast
Upon reaching 7th level, you now understand what it is to contend with The Hunger and have learned to benefit from feeding on the blood of others. If a victim is unwilling, you may make a bite attack. On a success you bite them, causing your hemocraft die in damage. If you are wounded you may heal for that amount of damage.
Brand of Exsanguination
Beginning at 11th level your Brand of Castigation causes wounds of your enemies to worsen. If already damaged, they take bleed damage per round equal to your hemocraft die. This has no effect on creatures without blood.
Blood Curse of the Undead
Starting at 15th level your experience with being partially undead allows you to turn undead bodies against themselves. You gain the Blood Curse of the Undead for your Blood Maledict feature. This does not count against your number of blood curses known. As a bonus action you incapacitate an undead enemy for one round. AMPLIFY: a number of rounds equal to your intelligence modifier. They may make a wisdom save at the end of their turn every round
Master of the Hunger
Once 18th level is reached, the effects of The Hunger now only affect you if you have not fed in the last month. Aside from this benefit, you also gain the full amount of your hemocraft die when using your Blood Feast feature. Finally, you now know how to impose the will of the undead on the living and may now use your Blood Curse of the Undead on any creature.
