Base Class: Wizard
The great visionary Benjamin Franklin once said that only two things in life are certain- death and taxes.
Magic, in its purest form, exists to defy that which is certain. The laws of reality ordinary men take as gospel are perhaps not quite as immutable as some would like to believe. Conservation of mass and energy, gravity, and the linear passage of time have one by one fallen victim to the magician's chopping block. As any budding necromancer is all too keen to point out, even death is by no means permanent.
This leaves only one obstacle to conquer, and those who seek to slay the final certainty join the School of Tax Evasion.
The School of Tax Evasion views taxation as the universal moral standard of evil. Whereas many wizards seek to create power where none exists, taxation is the only known process by which energy is directly converted into pure waste. To a Tax Evader, their work is nothing short of a divine calling, and woe betide any unusually bioluminescent federal employee who dares stand in their way.
Off the Books
Your innate physiological need to evade taxation begins to slightly warp reality around you.
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, you can cast the Disguise Self spell as a cantrip when not in combat. This may only be done once per long rest. Additionally, all paper records pertaining to you degrade and age at an extremely accelerated rate, destroying themselves within days if not constantly re-transcribed onto new paper.
Glowiesbane
Those who enforce taxation are unworthy of mercy.
Starting at 6th level, you gain advantage on all attack rolls against creatures in the employ of any governmental entity. Additionally, any such creature will appear to have a faint, glowing green aura around them, which only you can perceive. This does not apply to artistic renditions of any kind, and the aura cannot be seen if the creature is viewed through glass or any other transparent material.
False Leads
Diverting resources is a key tool in the Tax Evader's arsenal.
Starting at 10th level, all spells cast against you require Concentration if they did not already. Additionally, if a spell which naturally requires Concentration is cast against you, roll a D20. On a 19 or above, you may redirect the spell to a target of your choosing within the spell's range. The original caster may choose to halve the spell's damage as a reaction.
Inequivalent Exchange
Your transgressions against the tax code have taught you where to cut corners without being noticed.
Starting at 14th level, you may ignore the material components of any 5th-Level spell you cast or lower.

Posted Apr 11, 2024The only real thing I'd bring up with this is that the level 6 ability is way more situational than really justifies being the only ability at its level, similar with the level 10 ability though I'd say that one would only need something pretty small to go along with it, otherwise I think this is a quite well designed subclass
quick thing on the wording of the first ability though, a better way to write it would probably be 'once per long rest you can cast the Disguise Self spell without expending a spell slot' cause that's generally how similar abilities are written
