Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Hunting a rogue wizard through the woods, taking down a sorcerer whose magic is out of control, investigating a secret order of warlocks who follow a dark patron and bringing their schemes to an end, banishing a hag from a town’s surrounding forest, destroying a lich’s phylactery, dealing with a mischievous Djinn, or fighting against a pit fiend are some of the tasks that can be asked from a Mage Predator.

Understanding the world-shattering power that magic hold, this conclave of rangers study and train ways to challenge spellcasters in the service of greater good, often being employed by authorities inside large cities, or sometimes working in the outskirts of humanity tracking their dangerous prey. They might also be found offering their services as mercenary work however.

Mage Predator Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Mage Predator Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know.

Magical Understanding

Starting at 3rd level, you can cast a ranger spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you know it.

Sworn Opponent

Starting at 3rd level, you gain some benefits from both the Favored Enemy and Favored Foe features of the Ranger class, independent of which one you chose to take.

  •  All creatures with a spellcasting ability become favored enemies of yours, even if you don’t have the Favored Enemy feature.
  • You gain the benefits from the Favored Foe feature against all creatures with a spellcasting ability even if you don’t have the Favored Foe feature. You don’t need to mark your target, and thus need no concentration to gain this benefit against spellcasters, as you instinctively deal the additional damage against these creatures.

Additionally, any creature with a spellcasting ability’s lair, becomes a favored terrain for you and you gain all benefits from the Natural Explorer feature of the ranger class when inside the lair even if you don’t have the Natural Explorer feature.

Protection from Spells

Starting at 7th level, you can give yourself advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Magic Banisher

At 11th level, you gain the ability to disrupt and diffuse magic: you know the spell Dispel Magic. It doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know, and you can cast it as a bonus action. You can also cast it once without using a spell slot, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.

You can add your proficiency bonus when making an ability check using your Wisdom modifier to end the effects of a spell on the target if the spell’s level is higher than the spell slot you’re using.

Spell Doom

When you reach 15th level, you can cast Circle of Power once without expending a spell slot. You must finish a long rest before you use this feature again.
